Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a clear reddish-amber color with a small, foamy, tan head that settles to a thin, patchy film. Micro-spot lacing dots the glass. Aromas are boozy for a relatively small beer, showing grainy alcohol notes of a base of pale cereal malts, toast, oregano, and an odd, briny sort of funk. Hints of pickles come to mind. Flavors again are grainy, in a alcoholic sort of way, with a strange, mildly tart funk, dusty yeast, and notes of sage and oregano. Bottled. Pours foggy brown with modest off-white head. Aroma: strong malts of caramel, toffee, sourish yeastiness, dried fruit, candied sugar. Medium body. Soft carbonation. The taste is initially richly malty and lightly sweet. Fruity & spicy middle. The ending is pretty tart with malt toastiness and light hoppiness. Interesting. I had this on tap at Beachwood BBQ’s Italian Beer Festival. This reddish-brown pour had some cherry and some spicy notes.

Bottled sample via boutip. Ruby brown in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of red wine, caramel, red apple, and spicy Belgian yeast. Acidic red fruit flavors dominate the palate, and are backed by minerals, toasted malt, pale malt, and magic marker. Medium bodied, but the tartness and slightly fizzy carbonation make it feel a bit lighter on the palate. Deep amber reddish beer with a nice creamy-lacing tan head. Caramel, fruits like fig, some overriped cheese in the aroma. Medium body, fruity character, taste of fig, raisins, light sourish-vinous taste, light roasted-toasted flavor.
Ok. I swear I was just saying how I hate del ducato beers. .... Ha. K. This smells like unknown vapors. Brownish with a silty head. The smell is not appealing what so ever. Let this sit for almost an hour and it did improve. Plums, cheap white wine, raspberries, figs - maybe it was the figs. Not gonna finish this, mainly cuz I’m tired. The taste is kinda sour with a quick fade bitterness early, fig, caramel sort of burnt, fruits, wine, heavily carbonated. This ain’t my this at all.
