No gas, no foam, only an impressive barley wine! The aroma is of vanilla, grape, leather, Tonka’s nuts, cocoa and noble old cask. In to the mouth, in addition, you can find milk chocolate, candied fruits and the original marker of Amarone: the botrytis. The body is like an old wine on the top of his evolution.

27-10-2016-0,33L Flasche. Riserva 2010 , bott.n. 1365. Dunkles Mahagonybraun, fast ohne Schaum / Karbonisierung. Aroma: Portwein, Holz, Rosine. Antrunk: Portwein, Vanille, ordentlich restsüß, alkoholisch wärmend. Fein für die kalte Jahreszeit.

Semmi hab, vörösbe hajló sötétbarna szín. Rendkívül intenzív, vörösboros, aszalt szilvás, csokis illatok, komoly hordós vonással. Vörösboros, feketecsokis, aszalt szilvás ízvilág, enyhe kakaóporos beütéssel, leheletnyi alkohollal. Testes, enyhén szénsavas, alig keserű. Isteni.

(Birrificio del Ducato L’Ultima Luna (Amarone Casks)) Bottle 330 ml at home. Label reads "Reserva 2010, 24 months in barrel", bottle number 1654. Served into a snifter, ABV 13% Brown coloured body with just some tan coloured bubbles on top of it. Aroma is vinous, with alcohol, some wood, some dark fruits. Taste is sweet, with alcohol, vinous notes, grapes, red and dark fruits.light vanilla on the finish. Medium thin body with low carbonation. Good.

Bottle at 3 Dorstige Herten. Copper bronze pour. Divine aroma of vanilla, port and red fruit. Taste is rich and full, with lots of vanilla, raisin, caramelised malt, booze and red fruit. Long warming finish. Amazing beer.

Bottle, acquired from an Italian grocery in Chicago, shared at game night. Murky burnt orange hue, minimal head. Rustic sweet caramel with heavy vinous character that comes across strangely as very tequila-like. It took us a while to pin this down, but TvM solved the matter. Quite heavy, sticky, and not overly appealing as a barley wine in the end.

Gedronken bij de drie dorstige herten. Helemaal plat, maar niet heel vervelend. Smaak is echt een bom vsn rood fruit vanille eiken en choco

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2016 Another brilliant barley wine from my favorite Italian brewery, matured on red wine barrels. Thin beige head, misty bronze robe. Very complex, appetizing, perfumed and tempting aroma of caramel, sweet red wine, jute, sweet tobacco, raisins, medium dry sherry, soy sauce, black pepper, candied cherries. Sweet caramel taste, candied fruits, complex smoky and woody accents, oily mouthfeel with lots of body, made lighter by a sourish touch, tannins, liqueurish warm finish without any astringency. I’m a sucker for complex barley wines and this is one of the best I ever had. What a marvellous beer this was!

33ml bottle. Bottle # 233 of 900. Drank right after the regular version ... this one was much better. Poured a deep amber/orange color with a small sized head. Caramel, earthy/peat, dark fruits, some wood, and vanilla.
