Grado: imperscrutabile. Gusto: incredibile. Versata tutta in un bel calice Teku non lascia nessuno scampo alle papille gustative. Verdetto unanime: paradisiaca. Beverina, fruttata, amabilmente acida, sensuale. Se avessi una spina in salotto, vorrei poter attaccare la Luna Rossa. Ogni italiano amante della birra dovrebbe essere fiero di questo prodotto e, senza perdere un’istante, dovrebbe assaggiarlo.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy reddish-brown beer with a fast disappearing foam; a Rodenbach-like nose ! 330 ml bottle - pours murcky red brown with a fine bubbly head - it’s definitely alive! Elegant nose - waauw! - cherries, caramel, apple, botrytis raisins. Light yet complex body with a salty start, going over to sweet caramel and ending with a sour boost, all supported by a cherry tartness... Incredible sour beer, in the same range of the Russian River Supplication. If you are a sour fan and already used to lambics and craft lambic fruit beers, this is another "aha erlebnis" showing the skills of craft Italian brewers! Bottle @ home, cuvée 2011. Pours dull and opaque red/light brown with no head whatsoever. Nose is warm and sweet with a fantastic blend of vinous cherries, oak, vinegar, raisins, earth. Vanilla, apple, lemon and caramel notes. Medium bodied with low soft carbonation. Taste has some caramel sweetness initially but quickly turns really sour. Sour cherries, smooth vinegar, red apples, vinous raisins, barnyard. Lots of oak and vanilla, and some lemon peel in the aftertaste. My god. This is the real deal. Hazy amber brown with a thin beige film on top. Not the best looking beer but the rest of it means the appearance is instantly forgotten. Right from the off, the aroma makes it clear this is going to be special. Amazing wet wood, fruit, leather and red wine barrels. The flavour is even better. In fact, and I know this is a big call, but the only other sour ales I’ve had that are so stork on worthy are made by Russian River. It reminds me very much of RR sours. That same blended barrelly madness that I love so dearly is here. The sourness is delicate but assertive. Not at all challenging but gripping all the same. The red wine notes are through the fuckin’ roof. This sort of depth of flavour and complexity only comes from some genius blending. Faint lemon acidity and the feel of something fresh, blended with something old. Great length, developing through waves of tart, then sweet, then tart, leading to a fantastic clean finish. Brilliant stuff all the way through. I wish, I WISH I could get more of this.
