Bottle 76. Pours a copper amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma intense chocolate, unsweetened cocoa powder, some dark fruits such as dried plum and raisin. Flavor very sweet, again cocoa and fruit, rum raisin, savory spice, leathery. No carb at all, zero. Ill give it that its interesting, but as any sort of style goes its kind of all over without being anywhere. Sweet fruit, not much barrel character, though a bit red wine fruity, but not oaky or wood like Id hope for madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 1, 2014

Murky red - brown beer, no head. Palate is light and softish and a touch viscous. No carbonation! Mellow gueuzey sourness kicks off but is soon joined by a nice tangy red wine steak. Good red wine berry fruits. The two elements come together very well in to a light smooth finish. Does a good job of hiding the abv.
Pours red brown with not much head at all. Hard to tell what that colour was because there hardly was any and it disappeared quickly. That said, head does not play that important of a role.... Aroma is fruits, spices, oak and toasted. Flavour is medium sweet, oak, fruits and a little bit of spices. Very nice beer. Italians are coming. Beware. monk191 (1978) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Extremely unique, but very intense beer. Pours a deep amber-red, with no head. Smells like wine with some fig and weirdly, blue cheese. Taste has a lot of red wine with some caramelized sugar and sweetness in the end and a boozy finish. Very buttery. Couldn’t drink too much, but very interesting. Had in the bottle at La Trappe’s Italian event. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Buongiorgio00 (934) - - FEB 2, 2014

11.2oz bottle, on close out from Party Source. Very dark brown / red, near black. Virtually no head. A few khaki bubbles. Chunky flaky dark yeast bits. Bigger, wine-like body. Completely uncarbonated, this is totally flat. Are they trying to make this beer as close to an actual wine as possible? Lots of caramel malt, dark fruit, and huge vinous notes. Lots of big red wine in the flavor, malt. Earthy. Some chocolate. Tomato soup. Big sweet, lightly spicy. Best thing going for this is that it hides the alcohol ok, no burn or bite or warmth. The taste is awful though and make this hard to drink. Probably no noticeable alcohol because it’s so difficult to take more than a tiny sip. Interesting at first, but got way and way worse as I went. Poured the majority of this one out... So oddly wine-like, but without any of the well-roundedness nor complexity of a wine. Is this over my head? Maybe I need to be a sommelier to understand this one. Not even worth the $5 or whatever the price was hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 23, 2013

Pours clear dark ruby red color with no head. Aroma is very intense with dark berries, some alcohol comes through, ripe dark fruits, hints of oak and red wine (port) with a dash of tar also. Flavor is quite sweet with syrup, dark berries, ripe fruits, raisins mostly, some caramel malts and wood. Warming alcohol on the finish. No carbonation at all, full-bodied and quite thick, velvety smooth and sticky, almost syrupy palate. A very beautiful delicacy.
330 ml bottle. 2010 vintage, bottle n. 0081.angel77 (3382) - oviedo, SPAIN - NOV 21, 2013
Pours a dark ruby amber colour without a head. Aroma of sweet caramel, red berries, vinegar and bread. Flavour of sweet caramel, licorice root, mild vinegar notes, tannine, bready maltiness, wood (birch?), plums, fruitcake and some cherries, Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Finishes warming, slightly oaky. Gets very mellow and vinous as it warms up. At first I had mixed feelings about this because of the lack of carbonation, but it seems to suit this very well as it makes this very vinous and port-like without being overwhelmingly sweet. A dessert.
