COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heavily hopped, it has aromas of grapefruit, white grape and tropical fruit. Warm and fairly bodied, bitter but balanced, complex and persistent, its palate shows its character. It finishes with balsamic and resinous notes.

After watching the trailer of the movie “Machete” 4 years before its showing, I was sold on creating a beer to honor him. Not any beer, only one could bear the weight of such a name: a Double IPA. I have always been fascinated by well brewed Double (or Imperial) IPAs. These are far from easy beers to brew. Limiting the caramel amount, achieving a good dryness, making sure that the higher alcohols are not overpowering are some of the key elements to avoid an undrinkable “sludge”. Above all, hop has to emerge over everything else, powerful and imperious.

This is an extreme beer, either loved or hated. It has no middle ways, middle ways are not for Machete. Machete doesn’t come to compromises. “Machete don’t text”.

Aroma floreale non particolarmente intenso. Al palato leggermente maltata, con un mix dolce amaro leggermente stucchevole.

2013-01-24, bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver, 7-4-7-4-14=36
bb 12-2012, batch L 313 11

Hazy light amber color with small creamy head. Nice aroma, mild, with some malt and fuity hops; light chamomile. The mouthfeel is smooth; it’s also quite lean in the category; the malt flavor is mild and sweetish; there is a strange impression of herbal tea, chamomile and verveine; correct bitterness, with some bitter oranges.
Quite good, but a bit strange too, and not very fresh.

2012-04-10, bottle at Birratrovo, Como, 7-5-8-5-16=41
Cloudy amber color, with compact head. Beer with bold fruity character, very good malt flavor, minimal sweetness, therefore pleasant and not cloying; bold but not oppressive bitterness.
One of the most drinkable DIPAs in a long time.

Color oro carico. Al naso regala pochissimo e al palato delude. Eccessivamente caramellosa e stucchevole. Forse scarica?

330 ml bottle @ Både &. Slightly unclear golden body with a firm off-whiter head. A bit modest aroma of citric fruit, mild caramel malt and slightly spicy. Flavor is not particular biter for a DIPA, but well-made and well balanced with a fine combination of not too sweet malt and not too bitter hops. Fine body and average aftertaste. This is more like a regular IPA than DIPA.

Deutlich hopfig grasiger, mild alkoholischer Antrunk. Süßlich, steigender Hopfen, vollmundig. Hell brotig, deutlich bitter, was aber gut versteckt wird. 12/11/11/11//11

ASPETTO: biondo chiaro, quasi canarino, torbido. Schiuma bianca, fine, abbondante e persistente. AROMA: decisamente floreale (gelsomino), nonché forte erbaceo (luppolo, erba tagliata). Molto invitante.

bottle at rbesg 2015. lightly hazed golden with a modest head; loads of nut in the aroma - hazelnut spread; light pine, stonefruits, woof of nutty liqueur, modest somewhat tinny bitterness; didn’t quite work for me

From tap at Borefts ’14. Pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma has some fruitiness, malts, spices and yeast. Taste is a bit sweet and malty with some pine, caramel and an over medium bitter finish. Over medium body, medium carbo.
