COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heavily hopped, it has aromas of grapefruit, white grape and tropical fruit. Warm and fairly bodied, bitter but balanced, complex and persistent, its palate shows its character. It finishes with balsamic and resinous notes.

After watching the trailer of the movie “Machete” 4 years before its showing, I was sold on creating a beer to honor him. Not any beer, only one could bear the weight of such a name: a Double IPA. I have always been fascinated by well brewed Double (or Imperial) IPAs. These are far from easy beers to brew. Limiting the caramel amount, achieving a good dryness, making sure that the higher alcohols are not overpowering are some of the key elements to avoid an undrinkable “sludge”. Above all, hop has to emerge over everything else, powerful and imperious.

This is an extreme beer, either loved or hated. It has no middle ways, middle ways are not for Machete. Machete doesn’t come to compromises. “Machete don’t text”.

Colore biondo dorato molto carico, schiuma abbondante. Odore molto fruttato, frutta tropicale, floreale, agrumato. Corpo medio-leggero, nota maltata sommersa dal buon amaro agrumato e speziato. Si beve facile nonostante la gradazione.

Grosse odeur de caramel qui couvre un peu le reste d'arômes fruités type baies. Bonne amertume, mousse qui retombe vite.

Tap @ Speakeasy, Tallinn. Pours amber with beige head. The head stays forever. Aroma is sweet, pine, berries, caramel and some cat piss. Flavor is sweet, and bitter, caramel, fruits, citrus, pine, malt. Finish is mild, but long pine bitter. Carbonation is very low. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: I enjoyed this one, although the keg wasn’t clearly very fresh.

Tap at Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend 2015. Bright yellow. White head. Did not take much notes... Grapey, acidic, very sweet, even sugary, grassy... Body lighter than medium, carbonation below average. Juicy yet dry. Pretty good overall impression.

On tap at Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend. Clear golden with a white head. Moderate hoppy and more grassy and herbal than expected. dome fruity notes too and moderate caramel notes, hints of citrus. Medium sweet with somewhat mild hoppy flavours and a moderate bitterness. Decent stuff, but not right up my alley.

Clear yellow, small off-white head. Nose is hops and grapefruity notes, earth tones. Flavor is citrus, malt, hops, caramel sweetness and some hints akin to diacetyl. Hoppy finish.

Tap. Italian Job, Chiswick. Clear gold. Film of sticky, white head. Lovely, sweet, dank resin on the nose. Some orange, and a distinct, sweet, pink grapefruit element to it. Taste is sticky sweet, turning light bitter. Fairly rich. A tad of dry for good measure. Soft, sticky lipped palate. Finishes moderate bitter. Good stuff, but I could have managed more bitterness to balance the sweetness out.
