A special one time creation that truly lives up to its name. The base is a Stout brewed with hot chili peppers that has been aged for almost 2 years with blueberries & pediococcus. It is opaque black in color in with just a touch of carbonation. Quite acidic & tart along with very intense flavors and aromas. This nightmare is sure to leave a lasting memory.

Grabbed some of this a week ago at Rustico. Poured a near-pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was funky dark berries, with some sour/tart notes to it. Flavor was tart berries, notes of dark chocolate and some coffee beans. Pretty enjoyable.

Last of the keg. Black color, fluffy and lacey brown head. Aroma of medicinal berries in a roasty background, very odd. Taste is fruity cocoa, coffee. Strange stuff. Not unpleasant, but the base beer is so delicious, why mess with it?

On draft at Alla Spina, served in a tulip glass. Poured black with thin head and no lacing. Nose of a little funk, some roasted malts, tar. Taste is sour blueberry, raspberry, currants, slight notes of chocolate, with a mildly smokey finish. Very interesting beer.

Tap at CK. Pours deep, cloudy black with ruby highlights. Wispy mocha foam. Nose is 100% acetobacter/vinegar with hints of acetone. Hot tamale tonight. Taste is not too bad- sharp as hell acetobacter vinegar, very salty, some small balancing char but way too little stout remaining. Palate is very tangy and hot with vinegar acetic acid heat. It's not my thing and not really in the right direction for sour stout or oud brune. Probably was a nightmare for the brewers when they discovered it was an acetobacter bomb but sold it anyway. As it warms the nose rids of volatile acetic acid and allows chocolate and caramel to show through. No blueberries no matter how you cut it. Thicker chocolate never comes through in the taste. Very odd beer. Would receive a 1.5 from MrChopin and 1.8 from ryan. Maybe a 3.5-4.2 from Travlr depending on his mood. Perhaps a 2.9 from argo0. Definitely a 1.3 or lower from nimbleprop. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap during the 43 Hours Of Sour at The Birch, Norfolk, VA. Pours very dark and from the lighting was hard to tell if it was dark brown or black. Tart blueberry, apple cider vinegar, and some oak are noticed in the aroma. The blueberry and apple cider vinegar are detected in the flavor and are joined by some soy sauce (which actually works in this beer) and hints of oak and Earth. For a sour beer this has a rich mouthfeel. This is a stunning sour beer.

Tobacco, cider vinegar, prunes, and currants on the nose, a fabulous combination. Quite vinous. Opaque black, no head. Full body, sublime smooth almost viscous texture. Tart apple, prune, currant, tar, and tobacco flavor. Char finish. Fabulous complexity with rich dark fruit and tobaco notes. Amazing.

From the poured a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Fruity toasted malty flavor with a light sour finish.

Smells amazing, blueberry pie with cayenne. Pours an almost black red, no head. Flavor EXPLOSION. Sweet and tart blueberry, sour sweet, major chili flavor, especially at the end. Dry sour finish.

Draught at the Beer Table, Brooklyn, NY.
Dark reddish brown colour with small pinkish head. Redwine, sourness, mold and notes of sweet grapes in aroma. Sour and tart Lambic touch with grapes and vinous flavour. Sourness in aftertaste. It’s tasty, it’s interesting, t’s challenging and it’s rewarding.
