The beer looks nice. The color of the beer is a nice dark brown, almost black. There is hardly any foam on top of the beer.
The smell is, in my humble opinion, disgusting. It is very sour. I smell some cherry or berry and some oak wood. Thats about it. There are some whisky like oak wood touches, with a touch of iodine and some twists of red wine. That is all the positive there is.
The taste is terrible to. To sour, way out of balance. There aren’t clear blueberry flavours anywhere (at least i can’t find it). There are only disgusting sour flavours, with some hints of red wine in the far away distance. I hate this beer type anyway, and this one especially. Bleh. Aroma: tart with strong alcohol feel, softer at mid, drying finish. Feels to be stronger than what label promised.
Top: small tanned head.
Base: hazy red with brown.
Palate : mellow mid bodied ale with longer than average finish.
Taste: ash, smoke, alcohol with berry infused hints. Slight tartness with chili smoke.

(Draught at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam, 17 Sep 2016) Black colour with brief, red/blue/beige head. Malty, sourish nose with notes of balsamic vinegar, blueberries and oak wood. Fruity, tart taste with balsamic vinegar, blueberries, some coffee and a tart finish with low bitterness. Almost full body, quite dry. Sour stout with chilli and blueberries? Well, a lot could go wrong here. It is mainly sour, and fairly unbalanced, but it actually works fairly well with tasty blueberries shining through the vinegar. Craft and Draft. Keg. Hazy brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Palate is light, dry and crisp. Very sharp vinegar. Some blueberry maybe - but who cares? Acid vinegar finish. Would even put this on me chips! God awful!
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, dark brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (dark chocolate), with notes of blueberry syrup, licorice, chipotle pepper, charred oak, lemon juice, sour apple, leather, black cherry, manure. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic, moderately burning (chiles), lightly to moderately astringent.
Wow, so...blueberry, pedio, chile peppers, and two years of aging...sounds like the opposite of good on paper. But...it’s actually pretty nice. The aroma is remarkably complex and enticing, and thankfully the pepper aroma is not the typical green-vegetal type but instead offers a nice punch of smokiness, as if they used chipotles or some other smoked pepper. Blueberry is obvious (and delectable) but not at all overdone; lots of other fun aromas shine through. And lastly, there’s no icky oxidation odors...as usual, acidity is the key to that. Quite nearly a 9 for aroma, honestly (give ’er time in the glass, friend-o). The pepper burn isn’t exactly desirable (esp. combined with the substantial alcohol) and the mouthfeel is just ok (typical for sour ales), but it’s overall a lot better than I feared it might be. Way too expensive, so won’t be buying any more, but happily surprised that it wasn’t a drain pour, and instead threatening to be near 4+ territory.
