COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial stout aged for at least 6 months in barrels of whiskey from Scotland’s best distilleries (each batch is bottled from a single cask of that year and the area of ​​origin is indicated on the label). It has aromas of vanilla, licorice, chocolate, wood and peat alternating alcoholic and ethereal nuances. In the mouth, warm and soft, complex but balanced: an unforgettable experience. Aged in Speyside Scotch barrels from 1969.

Ingredients: Water, malt, hops, yeast, spices.

Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, burnt malt, chocolate, coffee, smoke - tar - peat. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, smoke - peat. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110304]

Bottle at ACBF. Opaque brown beer, no head. TCP and rubber nose! Taste is mercifully much better! Dark malt that is slightly sweet. Smoky whiskey. The chilli seems quite subtle when considering the regular Verdi. I think the smoky whiskey has eaten most of it! Okay!

Bottle at home (Domus Birrae) 25/12/12. Bott #0429, Speyside 1997 listed as 10%ABV. Pours a dark cola brown approaching light black with a tan head that dissipates quickly to nyadda! Nose is dark malts, molasses, liqourice, light chocolate, touch of wood and some whiskey notes. Taste comprises dark roast malts, chocolate, sweet sugars, whiskey, wood tones Fullish body but hiding that 10% ABV with a little spritz in the carbonation but not so much as to detract from the feel for me. Sweet, boozey and slighly spicy in the finish. Not bad, totally drinkable but not blowing me away, not much depth to this compared to other offerings of the same ilk! The flavour improved as the beer warmed a little and I adjusted taste accordingly from 7 to 8.
