Bottle at home, 11th May 17. Pours black, slight rim of head. Aroma is barrel, peat, coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is sour, then barrel, peat and some chilli heat. I don’t think the sourness is intentional, it ditracts from the beer as it is quite tart, I still like the barrel notes and chilli, but it’s a shame that this beer has not matured so well. In fact I had to drain pour this in the end, really rare for me!

Bottle at Cafe Sara, aeptember 16th 2016. Black body with no head. Aroma of dark chocolate, whisky, peat. Taste is boozy and sweet with licorice, oak. Astringent and a bit acidic finish destroys it a bit, the chilies add a mild burn in the aftertast

drpimento (3814) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2017
Aroma was the best part here, roasty, spicy, bourbon, hint of cocoa. Flavor’s tart and like nose, but since there’s nothing in the beer’s description re this, I assume it’s turning.

brianza_ale (218) - ITALY - FEB 3, 2017
2013 batch, 3-4 years old; 33cl in snifter. Pours a small to minimal bubbly head, black appearance with some dark brown reflexes. Smells huge and pugent, deep dark chocolate, vanilla, all sorts of wood scents, dark fruits, surrounded by a quite special sweet peaty background. Tastes cocoa, peat, islay malt whisky, tobacco, some anice, barrel and basement notes, molasses, licorice. Medium sweetness and bitterness, neither of the two prevails on the other, hints of chili; also some sort of very light sourness coming through. Medium plus body, low carbonation, slight dry. Unique and sumptuous aroma, incredibly complex brew. Didn’t got it fully at the beginning, can see why someone gave mediocre scores. Huge sipper, absolutely drink warm, the last drop was actually the best, wow.

Small head basher bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours dark black with tan head and heavy carbonation. Nose is very peaty, charred dark malt, almost like a low level scotch, with cacao. Tastes of dark malt, tart acidity, notes of blackberry, vanilla, plum, smoky malt and peat, with a smooth and tart finish. Very unique beer.

Kavu (5248) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 7, 2016
A taste from a friend (bottle) @ One Pint Pub. Pours clear dark amber with a low head. Aroma is tarty roasted malts. Flavor is slightly sour roasted malts with alcohol. I don’t think this should be sour but it’s good.

hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 4, 2016
Smaller over priced bottle. This one poured with the consistency of maple syrup. The body was oily, sticky and towards the end hard to drink. Whiskey, vanilla, woody, earthy, and chocolate. That thick, oily, syrupy body ruined it all.

MarcoDL (5468) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 19, 2016
Bottle. Black oily pour. Nice aroma of smoke, peat, red fruit, whisky and cherry. Rich taste of peat, smooth vanilla, smoke, oak, red fruit and a nice chili afterburn. Very good.

375 ml bottle (9% abv). Batch L32513. BBE 15.12.2018.
Pours dark brown-red color with a small head. Very strong tar and peaty notes on the aroma, licorice, earth and malts. Flavor is chocolaty, malty, the chili raises its head quite fast, licorice and some faint whisky. Dry roasty palate, I like the chili here.

laiti (8531) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 6, 2016
33 cl bottle (9%) @ home. Lotto L 325 13, BBE 15.12.2018
Aroma has strong peaty tones, islay whiskey and mild licorice tones. Flavour has licorice, peaty tones, islay and rubbery tones. Finishes with mild cardboardy tones. The chili starts to show up with mild warming tones at the end of the glass.
