COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Top fermented beer which undergoes a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is intense gold, almost orange in color, with aromas of fruit in syrup (pineapple, peach and apricot), candy sugar, bread crust and a note of chives from the Belgian hops of Poperinge. Warm and sweet on the palate with a firm fizzy finish. Strong and structured, sweet and inviting. A tribute to a friend who went missing, who we may meet again one day, just like the sun that is hiding behind the hill.

Winterlude is also named after a Bob Dylan song, a perfect fit since it is a winter warmer. The idea of winter as an interlude representing both the pause before awakening and the oblivion before new life.
This beer is inspired by some varieties of the Belgian Tripels. The hops come from the Poperinge region, a variety I have always been fascinated by. I connected with one of the region’s local farmer and had him set a preferred variety aside from his most recent harvest.
Because it combines incredibly well with food, Winterlude has always made us proud with our catering industry clients.

Bottle at lunch in Desenzano, Italy. Deep golden color. Hazy. Big white head. The nose is spicy, wheat, honey, yeast. Quite belgian. The taste is malty orange syrup, hefty wheat-like body. Full and thick body. Active carbonation. Overall, quite nice.

From a small bottle at Øl- og akevittmessen 2012, Stavanger. Clear golden body with a white head. Spicy Belgo yeast, banana and sweet light malts on the nose. Fresh, sweet and spicy mouth. Full bodied. Grows slightly in the mouth.

Outstanding Tripel. This brewery has been a good show for me so far. Pours out a bright, clear and sparkly golden body with a thick and creamy beige head. The nose is fresh, floral, grass and spiced uniquely. An overall well balanced nose with a light floral accentuated hop with light toasty malt. The taste has sweetness and light grainy malts in the middle. Light clove and coriander spices with floral notes throughout. A bit bland and mild for a tripel with light esters and a bland yeast taste. Mid mouthfeel with a bit of a thin mouthfeel. Overall a great brew.

KyotoLefty (10524) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 15, 2012
Draught at Bir & Fud. Deep gold, cloudy, with a high, pillowy head. Malty, yeasty aroma with peaches and honey. Rather acidic flavor, peach and melon and alcohol. Very sweet, with stewed fruits in honey, orange, lemon, bread. Tasty but too sweet—could use more attenuation and hopping.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2012 Ottima tripel italiana!. Fruttata, con sentori di pesche, mele, albicocche arance e di malto, con un tocco di miele. Il tutto bilanciato da un finale amaricante e luppolato che la equilibrano. Ottima birra non c’è che dire!

Bottel 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Golden amber with effervescence like Champagne and many particles under a white and compact foam designer. Soft aromas, honey, fruity esters, mango and tropical fruits. The taste is unctuous, rich and tasty of malt, spices, alcohol complex, hints of yeast, honey-candy, bergamot, orange and pink pepper. Bitterness of zest present between alcohol and sugar.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm, 13 Dec 2011) Hazy golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, candy sugar and spicy hops. Fruity, malty, slightly tart taste with citrus, tropical fruit, spicy hints of yeast and a slightly earthy bitterness. More than medium body, slightly sweet. Quite spicy and very nice.

yngwie (17102) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 7, 2012
Bottle. It forms a big, dense, off-white head over a semi-clear golden body. Sugar, hops and pale malts in the faintly spiced aroma. The alcohol isn’t missing either. In the flavor there’s sugars, hops, a touch of spices, a solid dose of fruityness and some bitterness. Full body, smooth, warming and nicely carbonated. More bitter in the end than initially. Overall, a quite pleasant one, although a bit on the sweet side. 120107
