Top fermented beer which undergoes a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is intense gold, almost orange in color, with aromas of fruit in syrup (pineapple, peach and apricot), candy sugar, bread crust and a note of chives from the Belgian hops of Poperinge. Warm and sweet on the palate with a firm fizzy finish. Strong and structured, sweet and inviting. A tribute to a friend who went missing, who we may meet again one day, just like the sun that is hiding behind the hill.

Winterlude is also named after a Bob Dylan song, a perfect fit since it is a winter warmer. The idea of winter as an interlude representing both the pause before awakening and the oblivion before new life.
This beer is inspired by some varieties of the Belgian Tripels. The hops come from the Poperinge region, a variety I have always been fascinated by. I connected with one of the regions local farmer and had him set a preferred variety aside from his most recent harvest.
Because it combines incredibly well with food, Winterlude has always made us proud with our catering industry clients.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2012 Ottima tripel italiana!. Fruttata, con sentori di pesche, mele, albicocche arance e di malto, con un tocco di miele. Il tutto bilanciato da un finale amaricante e luppolato che la equilibrano. Ottima birra non c che dire!

Bottel 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Golden amber with effervescence like Champagne and many particles under a white and compact foam designer. Soft aromas, honey, fruity esters, mango and tropical fruits. The taste is unctuous, rich and tasty of malt, spices, alcohol complex, hints of yeast, honey-candy, bergamot, orange and pink pepper. Bitterness of zest present between alcohol and sugar.

(Bottle, Monks Caf Wallingatan, Stockholm, 13 Dec 2011) Hazy golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, candy sugar and spicy hops. Fruity, malty, slightly tart taste with citrus, tropical fruit, spicy hints of yeast and a slightly earthy bitterness. More than medium body, slightly sweet. Quite spicy and very nice.

Bottle. It forms a big, dense, off-white head over a semi-clear golden body. Sugar, hops and pale malts in the faintly spiced aroma. The alcohol isnt missing either. In the flavor theres sugars, hops, a touch of spices, a solid dose of fruityness and some bitterness. Full body, smooth, warming and nicely carbonated. More bitter in the end than initially. Overall, a quite pleasant one, although a bit on the sweet side. 120107

Bottle. 8.8%. Pouring away and wondering where the head was that VBS spoke of when suddenly I was gulping foam to preserve the beer. The foam was tasty hops and alcohol. Beer is gold under the carved white foam. Aroma is spice forward, alcohol and some spice. Aggressive upfront flavour. Plenty of peppery hops. A nectarine note blended nicely with some hops and a hint of peanut oil.

iPhone.... praying the network is fixed soon. Pretty decent gold with endless microscopic sediment, big ass white cap then stays and dirties. Candy lemon nose, orange, a light spice cake, bit perfumy, smells quite delectable on deep snorts. Very drinkable, soft, fruity and soothing. Oranges and dull lemon, excellent sweet spice, something else.. I drank it to quick. Needed more spice.
