Double amber malt produced by way of decoction, with approximately 6.5% alcohol by volume (17 Plato degrees). A small amount of Cassis syrup is added at the beginning of the fermentation with S. carlsbergensis. It is prematurely bottled to obtain high gas saturation, and matured for at least six months at a temperature of approximately 6-7 °C. As in the case of Amber Shock, this is not re-fermentation, but an exclusive procedure adopted by "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago Marinone .
Cassissona®" has been produced since 1999. It is made during the summer and served in wide-mouthed glasses with the appropriate dessert.

Bevuta in compagnia come aperitivo, a me è garabta parecchio.

750ml bottle. Cloudy red to purple coulour with average, frothy, moderately lacing, pinkish off-white head. Fruity aroma with explicit black currant notes. Nice balanced taste, sweet fruity, tart and dry notes are harmonically combined. Nice.

750 ml. bottle shared with Poisoneddwarf, thanks, bottled in 2006- Pours cloudy orange with lots of sediment, it has a huge head, my beer was 90% foam, and great lacework. The aroma is very funky, but it smells like overripe almost rotten fruit. The flavor is the same overripe fruit, plums or prunes. The body is medium, carbonation is high, finish is dry. Didn’t like this too much, it might be because it’s five years old, not sure if it’s meant to be aged.

750 ml bottle, shared with brenn79. 6.4 % ABV. Bottled on January 2, 2006. I don’t know if this is meant to be aged or not. Found it on the discount shelf at my local beer shop. Pours a cloudy orange with a giant long-retaining cream-colored pillowy head. Aroma is funky, overripe fruit. Taste is sweet and lightly tart. A bit simplistic. Too many bubbles in the mouth. Tastes old. I hope I didn’t do the beer an injustice by rating an expired bottle. Couldn’t finish it.

wchesser (2140) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Dried fruit, slightly honeyed aroma. Highly carbonated, with a mouthfeel not unlike a prosecco. Some sour fruit, slightly cloying. Not bad-this could happily get crushed at a porch party on a warm summer’s eve.

[email protected] 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks MM!). Hazy orangeish golden colour with small fluffy head. Aroma is sour berries, some wood and mild notes of yeast. Flavour is quite similar with also some grains and fruity notes. Actually gets a bit better once warming up a bit. Pleasant fruit/berry beer.

Tasted on 3/20/11 from a 750mL bottle at Lush West Town, a bit of a gusher. Pours murky orange-brown with a massive, smooth white head that slowly recedes to uneven lacing with a thin collar. The nose is along the lines of an amber ale with caramel, nuttiness, and just a light hint of sweet blackberry underlying. The flavor is more tart with a good amount of cassis as the focus along with the somewhat sweet caramel malt acting as a solid backbone for the beer. The body is medium with sparkling carbonation and a long blackberry and caramel malt finish, and a good amount of drying tannin as well.

Bottle shared with Sigmund and Abemorsten, thanks Sigmund. Pours cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is a bit acidic, some fruit and yeast as well. Taste is fresh sour fuity, almost barnyard. Light bodied, easy drinkable fruit beer.

abemorsten (3683) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - JAN 13, 2011
Shared bottle courtesy of sigmund. Pours hazy golden-orange with a white film. Berries, sweat, barnyard, plums and ripe peach in the aroma. Fruity, bitter and alcoholic in the mouth. Dry. Medium body.
