Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Strange, strange, strange. I have come to expect nothing less from this new wave of funky Italian brews. Pours a cloudy tangerine gold with a foamy, off-white head. Virtually no lacing noted. The nose shows a funky vinegar base, with an odd, briny note of green olives. Aromas of herbal tea sweetened with a touch of honey emerge, with a light dusting of cracked black pepper adding a dry spiciness. Flavors are primarily the same, bordering on a salty feel from the olive notes. The pepper content is a highlight, spicy but not overpowering, serving as a nice counterpart to the sweet herbal tea. Light bodied and very dry, it goes down easy but leaves the mouth slightly parched. Weird little brew, but interesting. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - AUG 13, 2007
1L bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a cloudy grapefruit appearance; off-white head with good lacing. Tart citrus and grapefruit; spice and floral notes in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel: tart grapefruit and citrus; mild, zesty acidity; yeasty notes. Medium, tart finish, showing grapefruit and some dough. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - AUG 21, 2006

Poured a golden color with hints of amber, thin initial head, and weak lacing. The aroma was wheaty, floral, spicy (ginger?). The flavor was wheaty, dry, spiced with some pepper and light ginger, pretty odd spicing going on, I liked Berts live "dill pickle" descriptor. Mouthfeel was dry and thin, somewhat acidic. A light but not so enjoyable beer. Good thing this was only 3.8%, as Bert had to down more than half of this on his own after I took off. Thanks, Bert! sloth (2930) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - NOV 4, 2006
Small white head, decent lace. Clear gold color. Spicey nose, faint citrus, light floral notes as well as a dill pickley aroma. Strange. Body is light with an aggressive carbonation, with a neat tartness that grows as you consume this 1 litre bottle by yerself (thanks Brian!) in one sitting. Light spice flavors, peppery, ginger, flowery, perfumey, yeasty and citrusy. What a conglomeration of flavors! Finish is dry, tart. An easy drinkin little brew. Kinda grows on ya after awhile, by yourself, alone, with a 1 litre bottle. Thanks goodness for the low ABV. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2011
Pours a dark, hazy golden orange color that’s almost brown with a two finger frothy off-white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Slightly earthy aroma with boozy sweetness and light fruit notes. Slightly floral with hints of apple, pear and citrus peel.
Light bodied with heavy carbonation up front and a heavy spice profile. Slightly watered down with zesty pepper, citrus and light fruit notes. Hints of apple, pear, grape and other berries along with some lemon peel and honey. There’s an odd metallic flavor toward the finish that hurts the drinkability and overall flavor. iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - JUL 21, 2006
Had this one for a couple weeks, as it seems it’s now available in the US. 1L bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a huge creamy eggshell head. Aroma is sour fruits and a little funk--kinda saison-y, some floral aromas, misc spices. Flavor is quite tangy--maybe from the elderberry (I haven’t had elderberries in years, so I can’t remember their taste)? Some dust is also in there with some grassy hops, this doesn’t get very bitter. Biscuity finish. Very light bodied, highly carbonated. Nothing exceptional, but not bad by any means. In fact, pretty good. wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 29, 2011
Tasted sometime in mid-2011 from an odd-looking bottle at Lush West Town. Pours hazy orange with a thick white head that leaves an even layer of lace after a quick recession. The nose is tart green grapes, a bit of earth, red fruit, and a nice dose of bread malt. The flavor is tart and sour green grapes with a hint of red fruits, bread malt, and the same earthy not that I detected on the nose. The body is medium with lively, mouth-filling carbonation, and a medium tart and tannic finish.
