Pours a translucent brown on task with thin tan head that dissipates to leave light lacing. Aroma is German yeast, sweet malt, and associated dark fruit esters. Nice dark caramel to garnet in color with a head that wears a little too quickly. A little bitter for a doppelbock (for my taste), this German brew nonetheless has a pleasant and full malty character that lingers on the palate.

Pours a dark ice tea color into a pilsner glass with a 2 finger head than lingers quite a bit. Interesting nose of root beer and sweet malts. Taste has some sweetness/cola up front with some mlt but has a really strong alcohol finish that I didn't much enjoy. So-so.

A - Pours a ruby dark brown. 2 finger off-white head.
S - Old bread with a sweet and sour malt. Burnt toffee. Dark cherries. Musty grain. Very earthy overall.
T - Toffee malt, pumpernickel crust. Sour grain adds an interesting twist. Raisins, toasted walnuts. Complex malt. It takes on completely different characteristics with varying temperatures. Muted red apple, pear and green grass
This is a very mysterious and complex Dopplebock. I can smell and taste the traveling miles in this beer. I can’t even begin to unravel the flavors. I think it makes for a very interesting take on the Dopplebock style. Don’t pass this up. It’s a trip.

Aroma is grainy/almost wheat-like malts and a hint of earthiness. The flavor is barley/wheat malts, mild/medium sweetness and a hint of caramel in the finish.
