Screwtop! Pours light brown into a stem glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to coat surface. Dark caramel and toffee aromas. Smoky toffee upfront, more carbonated than most. A little less sweet as well. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUN 25, 2008
in bottle from seattle bottleworks. pours dark brown with a big carbonated off-white head. subtle caramel roasted malt aroma. big harsh fizzy palate. licorice and chocolate flavors. this is so over-roasted it seems burnt. this is not as thin as you’d expect but still has a harsh fizziness. the flavor is salty, in fact. the finish is tongue-numbing like being poked with needles. kwoeltje (2233) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - JUN 21, 2008
(screw top bottle) dark brown with small tan head. Roast malt aroma. Flavor is sweetish malt, brown sugar. OK but not great. GuinnessGal (93) - Virginia, USA - MAY 18, 2008
One of my beer of the month club selections. I did not like the aroma. On the palate, the beer goes down a littel edgier than many dopplebocks. Not my favorite. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 11, 2008
Pours a nice dark brown. Aroma of malt, nuts, hops. Tastes malty, with some hops and roasty hints.

Clear bright umber color. Seems like a thin liquid when poured. Taller fairly stable aged paper colored head. Sweet aroma with scents of dark corn syrup and light brown sugar. Touch of herbal hops. Fairly thin in fell and a bit fizzy for style. Dark caramel flavors with some hints of light smoke and rye. A touch of dark fruit as well. Really seems like a thin weak doppel. kevd193213 (992) - Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA - APR 29, 2008
Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of malt, fruit and caramel. Taste of malt, nuts and caramel with a bitter sweet finish. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - APR 23, 2008
bottle. very boring.... a pretty light doppelbock. some aroma, but mostly a bit of sweet malts and a bit nutty. pours a weird copper tone with next to zero head. overall a beer that isn’t worth much, except to have on a random night when you don’t want to break into your good stuff. Bottle, twist off cap. Clear brown, underwhelming nose of honey and malts. Not too much in terms of flavor. Body might be lighter than Narragansett Bock, but this is supposed to be a double? Maybe Bock Light. Mild dry finish. Not bad, shows potential, just watered and boring. WillieV (197) - Maryland, USA - APR 4, 2008
Bottle: Poured a light brown color with a very thin head. Very light carbonation. Aroma isnt that appealing. Flavor to match wont be sad to see these go and not come back. First in BOM...
