12oz bottle from The Grapevine arbine (8) - Bavaria, GERMANY - MAY 16, 2015 does not count
Poursdark brown with a medium sized tan head, some lacing. Aroma of chocolate, dark malts and caramel. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and nutty, dry finish
Not a ray of light comes through this one, so looks are great. Doesn’t taste very strong at first but intensely bitter when swallowed. I only taste chocolate in the aftertaste. Not my favorite and still not a fan of chocolate in beers, sorry. aumentm (452) - North Carolina, USA - MAY 10, 2015
This stout is smooth with a tan head and smell like amazing chocolate. Great aroma. Very dark. solidfunk (9191) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - APR 30, 2015
Some sharp bitter chocolate with a hint of roast. OK head and lacing. Black pour. Light bitter finish. Palate is pretty straight forward here, not a lot of complexity. Bottle. Jabah (506) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - APR 28, 2015
Few years ago I brewed a few batches of beer, the first one was a Chocolate Stout where the owner of a brew store helped me with the bottling and fermented it in his stand in fridge. Long story short, that was the best of the 3 or 4 that I brewed...came out something like 8% and very well-balanced. Bison’s stout has been the closest Chocolate Stout that reminded me of that brew. Wasn’t as strong, but the taste was sweet and semi-hoppy. What really dissapointed me though, was that after I decided that this is a beer that I really like, I can’t find it anymore. They usually have their Golden Ale, but for some reason the Chocolate Stout isn’t distributed here anymore.
Updated 6/21/09: Just found a 6’er of this at Whole Foods- Aventura, FL. Was going to buy a bomber in Orlando next month while on vacation to try again, so just went ahead and bought a 6 now. This beer wasn’t as good as I had originally remembered....as the last time I tried it was maybe late 2007. There seemed to be a little less flavor this time, mouthfeel was a bit rusty, slightly bitter flavor with a sweet chocolate finish. Little bit of a mocha head, but not much. Still a decent choco-stout, but wouldn’t say it’s closer to 4 like my original review. Probably will go with Rogue’s Choco or Lost Coast’s 8-Ball Stout next time around.

Pours dark brown, with an ample tan head. Aroma of cocoa and malt. Taste is of a dry stout, with slight notes of chocolate. This one is a nice ’foreign’ stout, but it is far less complex, with much lower abv than an imperial. Still, thumbs up. loubar (157) - Los Gatos, California, USA - MAR 30, 2015
UPDATED: APR 30, 2015 12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods. Nose of dark chocolate and roasted barley. Taste of black coffee and bittersweet cocoa. Carbonation is spritzy and refreshing. Finish is semi bitter and toasty. Extra points for the awesome balance; lots of flavor, dry finish and mild bitterness make this very drinkable. Outstanding. rdixon77 (2921) - Georgia, USA - MAR 29, 2015
Old rating. Black pour with tan head. Chocolate, earthy presence, hop bite, detracted as it a bit metallic and minerally, not horrible. ajnepple (6824) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 27, 2015
12 oz bottle shared at Cafe Spice in Truckee. Black appearance with a light tan head. Chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, mild earthy hop bitterness and light sweetness. Medium body with a smooth, creamy feel and a dry finish. Tasty. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - MAR 20, 2015

Aroma- Big malt aroma, real good aroma.
Appearance- Black with a small tan colored head.
Taste- Nice faint chocolate flavor with roasted malt.
Palate- This is a medium bodied beer with mild carbonation. it has an oily texture that fits the flavor.
Overall- A nice flavored stout for me. I really enjoyed this brew.
