smells like a squirrel's secret stash, dark brown with an off white head, medium body, dark malt flavors along with intense nuttiness, can't say I'm too much of a fan P-tor44 (886) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAR 27, 2003
nutty rich aroma. creamy with a big full body. reminds me of Boyne Rivers offering. minimal hops but a clean malt finish. a bit "woody" krisbierjaeger (844) - dolores, Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2003
from the beautiful bitter root valley in montana, in the shadow of the saphire range, comes a nicely packaged nut brown ale which, (thanx to yvonne), arrived here in ohio in splendid shape-- ready to be guzzled in one third the time it took to package it. ready as well to briefly dazzle a glass with the rich brown pour of a porter. under the blazing scruteny of hard light, the brown morphs to a scorched crimson under an elegant mousse the color of cattail fluff. reluctant aroma deepens with warmth, offering maple, a touch of cabernet grape, almond skin, caramel and musty old furniture. taste twists a tight curve from being momentarily sweet to becoming moderately bitter-- with toasty vanilla nut bread and dried apple flavors, quenching and amusing.
