From tap at the Elk Grove location. Pours clear and golden deep amber to hazzlenut dark brown. Small off-white head. Roasted caramelish aroma. Roasted malt flavoured, caramelish rather than dark roasted malt. Sweet and toffee caramelish finish. Subdued bitterness.

[At BJ’s in Boulder, Colorado] A red-brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is slightly roasted and the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel as well as hints of roasted malt. The body is thin. A slightly boring beer.

Draught at the brewpub in Boulder. Cear brown cloured with a huge beige head. Light roasted aroma of caramel and hay with notes of liquorice. Light roasted flavour of hay and liquorice with acidic notes. Roasted finish.

Draught at BJ:s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Brea. Black beer with a nice lasting beige head. Roasted chocolate aroma, coffee, licorice, cocoa powder, some toffee and burnt malts. Roasted coffee flavor, vinous, fruity, cocoa powder. Slightly thin but still a good porter.
