Lekker donker biertje met een goede volle smaak, ik ben fan (in tegenstelling tot de blonde hiervan)

Belgian Scotch-type beer made for beerclub De Bjeizelse Bierberg. Thick, yellowish beige, stable head, colour a very dark ruby brown. Aroma of chocolate, dates, coffee, pear syrup, milk powder, candi, sage, white pepper; taste a rounded, ’dry’ fruitiness with medium carbonation, some iron, subtle sourishness with dry effect a bit like in a stout, powdery mouthfeel, light maltiness, caramel with spicy notes, ending in a coffee-like roasted bitterness combined with warming, calvados-like alcohol and floral hoppiness. Wasn’t this brewed by Scheldebrouwerij at first?

Thx! to Kraddel. 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Barely Legal Tasting Room. Red copper / dark brown, little tanned head. Smells unpleasant to me, soy sauce, gravy, wet leaves, rotting dark fruits. Tastes of faint mint upfront, dark liquorish, metallic, bark, very sweet, leaves, herbs. Very thin. Not a fan at all of this one.

13/II/13 - 33cl bottle from Willems (Grobbendonk) @ home - BB: VI/13 (2013-164)

Clear deep purple brown beer, nice creamy beige head, stable, non adhesive. Aroma: dark ripe fruits, red berries, bit dry, dusty hops, overripe fruits, caramel, bit chemical and sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish start, mocha, some roasted flavours, little bitter, hoppy, caramel, some citrus. Aftertaste: bitter hops, mocha, hint of chocolate and caramel, sourish ending with a fruity note. Not very interesting, used the rest to cook with.

Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, fruit, yeast and some roasted notes. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness. Overall an average beer.
