This is a really nice pumpkin ale. Smells like pumpkin pie, tastes spicy and slightly pumpkiny. I like it because unlike other pumpkin ales I have tried, this one tastes of pumpkin and not just spice. Pretty dark color. They always seem to run out of this one really fast at BJ’s. bpreo (2840) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - OCT 25, 2011
I tried this at the Eugene location as part of a sampler. Great underwhelming pumpkin taste. One of the better Pumpkin Ale’s I have ever had. BigBastard (668) - L.A., California, USA - SEP 1, 2005
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2005 I am not really a fan of the bottled pumpkin ales I’ve had, but this one straight from the tap was good. Nice pie/spice flavors with a creamy finish. I’d like to get a growler this year to really finish off Thanksgiving just right.
11/05 just reaquainted myself with this Fall season treat. Closing my eyes and breathing in the aroma was just like getting a whiff of fresh baked pie with vanilla ice cream. Really great stuff. enstill (10) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 4, 2005
Mmmm. From first look you can see the orange tint of the beer.
Smelling it you can obviously smell the spices first, then the pumpkin.
It hits your tounge and the spices have a little bite to it. Really good taste immediatly following.
Great unique beer. Definatly must try this if you have not.
Upon swallowing a creamy aftertaste like pumpkin pie. Very good, sweet. DenverLogan (1218) - LA, California, USA - JAN 23, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 At the Brea location on tap...not sure it was called anything but Pumpkin but hey...orange amber...small head. Aroma of pumpkin spices...flavors are pretty balanced with sweetness and pumpkin, cinammon and spice. Tasty.
Re-Rate - Dec 2, 2013 at Aurora, COLORADO location. Cinnamon orange with small head & lace. Aroma of spicy pumpkin pie. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of righ malt, pumpkin spice pie. Overall very smooth, flavorful and tasty without too much spice.

BJ's Pumpkin Ale
A- no head. Clear brown w. orange hue. Lots of bubbles, kinda watery looking.
S-Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, malt sweetness. Smells like Pumpkin Pie.
T-Nice brown ale base with good amount of malt sweetness. This is a rare pumpkin beer that has more pumpkin flavor than cinnamon and nutmeg, which are there and blend very well. Great creamy pie-like flavor.
M- thin to medium with good amount of carbonation. Great creamy pumpkin after taste.
O- Excellent pumpkin flavor, great aftertaste. Easy drinking.

On tap at BJ’s In Mesquite, TX. Pours a clear, deep orange/amber with beige creamy head. Aroma of strong pumpkin, nutmeg, some cinnamon and malt. Flavor is much the same with a strong spiciness and solid malty backbone with a very nice sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium body, medium-high carbonation, solid body. Overall I felt this was one of the tastier pumpkin brews I had this year. Good stuff! Ernest (7696) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2002
Draught. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), with notes of allspice and cinnamon. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery (almost syrupy) texture, lively carbonation. Very attractive spice aroma with a nourishing malt background, just how I like my winter warmers. Just a tad too sweet, as with most of BJs brews, but this is one of the better winter brews I’ve had this year. J_man (997) - Tustin, California, USA - OCT 29, 2010
Nice orange/tan color with almost no head (apparently like all BJs beers, at least in the Tustin, CA restaurant). Pumpkin spice in the aroma and in the taste with strong emphasis on cinnamon. Medium bodied with a really nice balance of pumpkin pie spice and malt, not too much or too little. Whatever hops might have been in there were kept in the background. Very well made and enjoyable pumpkin ale. mike67 (1197) - , New Jersey, USA - OCT 26, 2011
On tap at BJ’s in Houston (Brewed by St Arnolds). Pours amber with a white, short lived, foamy head and soda like carbonation. Aroma is of pumpkin, spices and caramel malt. Full, smooth body. Taste is similar to aroma. Short, smooth finish. Good brew.
