3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at BJs Salinas. Nose is toffee, char, citrus, and a hint of prunes. Clear light brown with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter with some sweet malts and a hint of smoke.
It pours an amber color with a nice head. The aroma has some floral notes and malt. Taste is pretty smooth with some malts, floral and caramel. Long finish. kramer (6905) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Clear light copper body under a small frothy beige head. The nose is sweet toasty malt with some nice light floral hops. The flavor is a bit thin, but it seems to allow the hops to shine a bit. Light bitter and floral with a slight citrus note on the finish. Light bodied and thin with fizzy carbonation. This wasn’t necessarily a great beer, but it was clean and drinkable. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUL 27, 2014
Reddish brow pour, cream colored head. Interesting mix of sweet caramel makes, citrusy hops, light peat, yeast. Easy drinker. fiveacestx (974) - Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2014
On tap - light brown, has a slight floral aroma. Has a biscuit malt taste. Medium dry. Not spectacular but not bad either. sloshgator (770) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUL 7, 2014
BJ’s Hoppy Scotsman is decent but not the best in category. Moderate aroma on the back end. Pour is translucent brown with a nice head. Taste is a nice balance between hop and malt with bit of a malt aftertaste. Hoppy Scotsman is mellow version of the style that will pair well with food.

16oz sample from Natomas, CA BJs. Light peated nuttiness in the aroma. A little sweet. Hazy amber body with a small, off-yellow head present. Starts with a nutty, sweet, chewy maltiness. Lots of caramel and toffee present in this.Light roastiness late. Some coffee, too. This is quite flavorable, and better than expected. kathouse (1940) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JUL 3, 2014
BJ’s at Superstition in Mesa. Pours brown with copper highlights. A thick head. Toffee, toast, and a slight smoke aroma. Full flavors went towards sweeter caramel and toasted malts. Not quite fruity, but leaning towards it. Hops don’t balance it much. Pleasant to drink, but not a shining example of the style. Yet again, I’d drink another. jkwalking05 (4745) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUN 19, 2014
On tap at BJs in Arlington, TX. Deep amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is of heavy malt, caramel, light smoke, herbs. Taste is of malt, dough, tree bark, herbs, and an average hop bitterness. Beerman6686 (6611) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2014
Poured a murky light brown with an off white head. Aroma was of caramel and earth. Flavor pretty similar, smooth overall.
