On tap @ BJ’s in Plano, TX. Poured black with minimal tan head that did stay with the beer. Aroma of dark roast. Flavor was of dark roast with nice slight hop bitter and fruity notes, nice medium high dark roast flavor. Had light medium body, slightly watery for an oatmeal stout. Medium carbonation.
Not bad.... Darkover (1538) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 27, 2008

Pours dark brown, almost black. Generous tan head. Aroma of chocolate and malts. Smooth body, light creamy mouthfeel. Nice chocolate and oat flavor with just a hint of malt roasting. Clean finish. DYCSoccer17 (3702) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 31, 2008
16 ounce sample on tap at Vacaville BJ’s. Some anise aroma is present with some ashiness as well. Metallic, leather and vegetal aromas are also appreciated. Moderately transparent mahogany body with a quickly dissipating light tan head. Chocolate, roasted malts to start, which become thin, watery, and rubbery-tasting. Boiled vegetables make a presence late with a light sweetness. No roastiness, no bitterness, virtually no carbonation. Flawed. PorterPounder (8070) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2008
On tap at their Orlando, Fl. location. Dark black pour, nice lacing mocha colored head. Pick up a bit of a nitrogen induced aroma of fresh lake water. Flavor has some solid roasted dry notes with some smokiness and bitter coffee to round it out. Thickish mouthfeel. All around a pretty solid stout.

Pretty decent beer for a chain. This beer is dark chocolate in color with a small 1/8 inch caramel head. You can taste the oatmeal in this one along with brown sugar sweetness and roasted coffee bean. Good brew I’d have again. Draught, BJs Boulder.
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Nice mouthfeel and good balance. Didn’t rock me, but it’s pretty solid. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 23, 2008
On tap at Westwood, CA location. Pours with a light brown, cream head with good lacing. Pitch black body. Grainy, chocolate taste with an aroma that is nearly identical to the Tatonka stouit. Waterymouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. ilovedarkbeer (2742) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAR 22, 2008
Actually not bad. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark black brown color with a medium sized light brown head. Noes is roasted and sweet. Taste is nice and malty, roasted, sweet, and creamy. Good clean finish, and very drinkable. Doesn’t blow me away but it is well crafted.
