On tap @ BJ’s (Tucson) - Pours a dark brown color with a thin light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and faint coffee. Flavor is much of the same. Palate is quite dry. Light to medium body. A decent beer. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 23, 2008
On tap at Westwood, CA location. Pours with a light brown, cream head with good lacing. Pitch black body. Grainy, chocolate taste with an aroma that is nearly identical to the Tatonka stouit. Waterymouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. Ernest (7695) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 23, 2008
Draught, BJs Boulder.
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Nice mouthfeel and good balance. Didn’t rock me, but it’s pretty solid. SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - APR 28, 2008
On tap @ BJ’s in Plano, TX. Poured black with minimal tan head that did stay with the beer. Aroma of dark roast. Flavor was of dark roast with nice slight hop bitter and fruity notes, nice medium high dark roast flavor. Had light medium body, slightly watery for an oatmeal stout. Medium carbonation.
Not bad.... Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2008
Poured up on tap at Citrus Park, FL location. They tried to serve me this ale in a chilled glass. But they were nice enough to go in the back and bring back an unchilled tumbler. The beer coming out of the tap was still way too cold and caused the beer to taste harsh, near acidic and not at all tasty. It poured up dark brown with tan to mocha head. The aroma was a little off until it finally warmed up when I started getting some chocolate, roasty malts, a bit of burnt malts, sweet molasses, nuttiness and a touch of coffee. Again once it started to warm up it began to taste pretty darn nice with an unwavering nuttiness mixed with roasty to chocolate notes and black licorice. I also get a mild burnt maltiness to go along with a tasty sweet molasses creating a pleasing balance. The oatmeal creamy mouth feel was only just there in the end due to the slightly over carbonation and being served generally too cold. Do yourself a favor and order this in a room temp glass and twenty minutes before you’re ready to drink it. If not it will taste like crap!! Get a clue BJs.

On tap at BJs in Lewisville. Replaced the Grand Cru which was a little better. Black in color with a decent head. Light coffee and oats in the aroma, could use some more. Taste again shows potential but comes but a little short

Draft at BJs Oxnard; nose of brown sugar and coffee; hazy very dark brown with a small tan head; flavor of smoke, light sweetness, and coffee. cgort (56) - San Clemente, California, USA - MAR 19, 2008
poured black but had no head (dirty glass?). sweet scents of oats mixed with bitter coffee. taste sweetish with coffee and roasted malt. Again... the beer was freezing and probably a lot better when served correctly. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 28, 2008
Pretty decent beer for a chain. This beer is dark chocolate in color with a small 1/8 inch caramel head. You can taste the oatmeal in this one along with brown sugar sweetness and roasted coffee bean. Good brew I’d have again. PorterPounder (7968) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2008
On tap at their Orlando, Fl. location. Dark black pour, nice lacing mocha colored head. Pick up a bit of a nitrogen induced aroma of fresh lake water. Flavor has some solid roasted dry notes with some smokiness and bitter coffee to round it out. Thickish mouthfeel. All around a pretty solid stout.
