On tap at the Cheers to Belgian Beers 2008. This was another of the beers that I picked up a lot of the artichoke veggie flavor in. I’m not sure if it is a product of that yeast strain or not, but I do remember finding this sometimes in beers from Tuck’s brewery and I know they used this same yeast strain. Soft fruity malt start, thin and a bit filmy on the palate, finished with some spicy hops. A touch acidic with a dry finish. I can’t get over the veggie thing, but a few of the people I talked to didn’t find it at all, so maybe i’m just sensitive to it. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 23, 2008
Another one of Vasili’s divine brews offered for a one-time deal at Belmont Station on April 23, 2008. Bright red body with a glamorous stinky, tart body and a tiny soapy white head. Evidence of La Chouffe yeast was both quirky and powerful, but maintained a subtle finish that grabbed my taste buds and wrestled them into heaven. Finish was vinous and tart all the way through. Great beer!
