Combined with its full-bodied richness, this symphony of flavors is what makes Imperial Stout the ultimate sipping beer. BJ’s brewers don’t hold back in their interpretation of this classic style.

12 oz 45-degree pour from tap into a pint glass. Moderate tan head. Very dark brown and opaque. Nose is pretty subtle. A little malt and caramel. Medium to heavy body; fairly creamy. Taste is good. Fairly sweet, caramel-y, a tiny hint of nuttiness. A little strange bittersweet aftertaste. Overall a solid stout.

This beer is simple. It pours dark and creamy with a good head. The aroma presents a strong malt presence. The taste is heavy roasted malt, quite like espresso, with an Italian coffee finish and a bite. The alcohol is noticeable but tame. I will order it again.

Had at the San Antonio Brewpub. Pairs decently with dessert. Not very good body or mouthful, otherwise very good.

Luvystypotables (2067) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - APR 16, 2015
A subdued aroma of malt and not much else, a great looking dark color with moderate carbonation and lasting tan head. Dry feel and a subdued malt taste reminiscent of Guiness. Slightly bitter finish.

[2/21/15] Draught at BJ’s Mission Valley in San Diego. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, chocolate and alcohol note. Sweet flavor with dark fruits, licorice, a bit of chocolate, a roasty finish and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

(tap) clear very dark brown colour with small brown head; aroma of roast, hint of soy sauce; balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish

DocJitsu (2036) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - JAN 27, 2015
Pours a dark brown with a long-lasting, creamy, brown-caramel head. Aromas consist of a peculiar plastic, citrus, mediciny qualities. Mouth feel is soft with some mild carbonation. The flavors are identical to the aromas. Something is just off about this beer. Shame, because it is one nice-looking beer.

Nitro at BJs, Gainesville, VA. Pours near black with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate and mild roasted malts. The taste matches. Thin bodied, a little too sweet.
