Reddish brown appearance, rich fruity port aroma. Sweet fruity, creamy flavor, strong port comparisons without the showing the alcohol. Smooth and creamy. Sweet finish.

The beer upon its evacuating the 500ml brown bottle takes up but temporary residence in my glass a deep brown to almost black color with a smallish light chocolate head that vanishes rather quickly leaving a dangerously thin skirt of lace to encircle the glass. Nose has a splendid burnt grain aroma with a sweet malt backing, caramel, and a somewhat earthy tone present; start is sweet with a nice grain profile, the top middling in its feel. Finish has a vigorous acidity and the hops delightfully spicy, and the 9.4 percent ABV leaves a nice warm feeling in the belly, a darn tasty brew this “Black Beauty”!

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 18, 2005
Bottle. Lots of toffee and sweet caramel, sweet/sticky/syruppy mouthfeel, some brown sugar flavours, not that bad, but it could with less sweetness and less alcohol in the finish.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2007 Bottled. Black opaque colour, brown foamy head. Chocolate and toffee in aroma along with roasted malt. Flavour is very roasted and bitter with hints of dark chocolate. Smoothens up a lot as it gets warmer. Some weird sweet flavour is also present.

DrBeer (862) - Solna Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 16, 2005
Dark red-brown with thin beige head. Coffee aroma with notes of chocolate, rostade malt, cream, soil, grains and sour berries. Sweet and bitter flavor with notes of milk, coffee, fruits and chocolate. Dry finish with decent bitterness.

Bottle @ RBESG2005. Notes of licorice and roast in the aroma. Dark brown to black body, with a medium tan head. Sweet and roasty flavor, notes of sugars and some hops.

Crosling (1864) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 31, 2005
Dark brown. Light and sweet malt aroma, with hints of raisins, chocolate, coffee and burnt currant. A light hint of aromatic hop as well. Flavor is overwhelming sweet, with a lightly creamy body and a touch of bitter chocolate and coffee, raisin and burnt currant.

Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 31, 2005
Very dark brown, minimal head. Aroma is sweet with a lot of molassis and caramel, soy. Tastes is molassis, bitter malts but in good way. Bitter chocolate. Mild earthy, oily finish with roasted malts. Fairly balanced beer, suprisingly. I would like to drink this on a cold winter inght in Poland.

Lou18 (1353) - West Paterson, New Jersey, USA - JUL 16, 2005
Poured black and fizzy with tan head, huge and fizzy. Sour nose, followed with sweet malts and dark fruits. Bitter flavor, like burnt coffee that sat for days on the burner. Smoothes out though, and in the beginning, there was too much carbonation. There was a ton of milky creaminess, and a very dry finish. This turned out to be a great Baltic.

3.2
ThomasE (5174) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2005
Dark brown colour with a small light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with hints of a dark fruit sweetness. Bitter flavor with some dried fruit and a faint alcohol note.
