Pours dark toffee-brown with a thick, fine-textured head. Sweet aromas have a definitely fruity slant that separates this from the majority of porters. In the mouth, this is sweetly chocolatey upfront, then it thins and dries out in the midpalate and finish. The net effect is a reduction in the impressiveness/impact of the beer but also an increase in the drinkability. jrt (62) - USA - OCT 14, 2005
Nothing astonishing here. At %9.4 it gets the job done and is affordable, but, despite being fairly rich, doesnt have much character. Hussey (60) - North Carolina, USA - JUL 24, 2012
Bottle @ Bestway.
Pour: Rich brown, tawny appearance. Opaque beauty with thin collar of foam.
Aroma: Leathery, cocoa, almost a cigar/tobacco-like aroma. Notes of dark fruit also.
Taste: A big porter! Immediate warming from the alcohol. Roasted malt forward brew with a hint of molasses and coffee flavors. Definitely a sipper. A muscular brew. Aggressive mouthfeel.
Overall: A freak of a porter, IMHO. Very enjoyable but volatile and potent. After tasting, rating, and finishing this particular bottle, my wife noted that i "smelled like a campfire". Once you imbibe this baltic porter, it literally seeps out of your pores. boisebeer (57) - boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Nice beer--- pours black with light showing through. Little head showing up.
Tastes of chalk butter and Carmel with a strong bite.
Smell is light and not that strong.

Pours black with a creamy brown head, almost a delicate lace and good retention. Notes of coffee and some malt. For a 9.4% beer is very smooth and enjoyable enough...great value for the dollar.. yamar1221 (40) - USA - JAN 2, 2010
A true Baltic Porter! Leave it to the motherland guys. Dense, dark brown with a light head. Strong and dense with malty flavors that include hints of chocolate and roasted coffee beans. For being 9.4% ABV, this guy packs it’s punch while maintaining a well-balanced character. explosivebeer (36) - Washington, USA - JUN 12, 2008
As the name indicates, this beer poured a nice thick black with a thin tan head. There was chocolate, alcohol, and maybe some sour cherries in the aroma, as well as some breadiness as is breathed a bit. The flavor had lots of chocolate and coffee with a slight creaminess. The malt body balanced the alcohol. It finished smooth. This was a great beer for the price ($2.80 for 500ml bottle) and a good beer regardless of price. Wow. caramel, sweet malt, chocolate, molasses- The high alcohol is completely masked by the sweet satisfying flavor. This is a great drinking porter! Don’t let the price fool you! This is inexpensive excellence. And, a FULL PINT of easy drinking 9.4 ABV for a little over a buck and a half is really a "no-brainer". aaron_bossart (33) - Idaho, USA - JUN 13, 2012
A very smooth porter. I enjoyed it very much. The taste isn’t overwhelming, and it has a hint of molasses. Very sweet, highly recommended.
