DocLock (11020) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Bottle from Smith’s, taking me back to 6,666 and the service of Satan after I got an e-mail saying Woodchuck Pink was removed. What does Joel have against tits? At any rate, enough controversy and on to the review, which I know you are all waiting for with bated breath. The pour is dark brown through indirect light, and a lovely shade of deep ruby/burgundy through direct light, with a finger of tan head. Nose is roasty choc and black patent malt, cacao, walnut. The nose really pops. Tastes smooth, a bit sweet, with amazingly well hidden alcohol. The flavor is roasty choc malt, blackberry, molasses, backup hops, and some walnut, molasses, and finishing charred notes.

Bottle from Swedish "Systembolaget" in July 2005.
Ordered it to my local store for fun, thought it was gonna taste pretty awful. I was in for quite a surprise though, since I really liked this beer! My first thought was "can a porter taste like this?" Very dark/black color. Mix of sweet and a bit alcohol. Well balanced thugh and something I’ll enjoy drinking again. Only "bad" thing is that the label looks very cheap.

(50 cl bottle from Systembolaget)
Probably one of the last they had before they replaced it with the 7.0% ABV version.
Clear dark deep red color, tan head that is fast dissapearing. Buttery, sweet, alcohol and acidic scent. Buttery, alcohol. metallic and coffee taste. Smooth big mouthfeel, medium well balanced bitterness. Medium to low co2. Slight roasted aftertaste.

marcus (10668) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 30, 2006
On tap at Oaktoberfest in Sacramento. This dark brown ale poured with a thin brown head. There is a slightly sweet treacle flavor with a nutty malt finish. A pretty good porter.

DuffMan (10664) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 7, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Bottle. Dark brown, but not quite inky, with a thin brown head. Aroma is sweet, but in a way that isn’t entirely appealing, cola-ish with caramel and dark fruits. Tootsie Rolls! That;s what I’m getting here! And I’m not crazy about it. The palate is much the same, more caramel, very little roast, and with a dusty, flinty dryness in the finish. Just okay.

Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - FEB 11, 2007
Black/brown, slightly transparent with a limited head, that leaves a nice lace. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and sweet licorice. The flavour is sweetish with brief sweet coffee notes, then more roasted malt, licorice and the sweet coffee returns in the rather long finish. A bit too sweet for me.... 1871

Pours black with thin off white head. $1.99 for a 500 ml, so overall this was a nice surprise. Aroma had notes of chocolate, some dark fruit, and a touch of coffee. Taste is some cocoa, dark fruit, some slight vinegar, and a slight sweet toffee notes. Good stuff!

blipp (9684) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 2, 2012
Bottle. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet and lightly roasted malts, just a hint of soy sauce, and a quick roasty finish. Not bad.

500 ml bottle bought at Tres Bon Cuisine. Pours a dark black color with a thick beige head. The aroma is pretty nice; loads of toasted malts and lots of caramel. The flavor is a rich dose of caramel, chocolates, toasted flavors and some light fruit. Pretty nice.
