16.9 oz. bottle from Woodman’s Madison
Ar: Cola-like aroma with some dark chocolate. Different for a porter, but pleasant.
Ap: Pours a dark brown-red with a 1" light cinnamon head. Very light for a porter. A bit of lace.
T: Cola and a bit of smoky wood up front. The finish is chocolatey. No alcohol burn.
P: Medium body with soft carbonation.
O: Different for a porter, but enjoyable. MartinKubert (862) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 14, 2004
Very dark brown coloured. Sugary and caramelly aroma. Very sweet flavour. Alcohol well hidden. Ungstrup (37634) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JAN 15, 2004
A dark amber beer with a fine beige head though disappearing. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is sweet too with notes of cinnamon, caramel - to end on a slight sour note. It is way too sweet for a Porter - even though it holds 9.4% ABV. Thanks to Per (omhper) for trading this with me. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - JAN 29, 2004
Bottled: Dark ruby red coloured. Thin chocolatish head. Malts, fruit and chocolate in the nose. Coffee, fruits and a very dominant sweetness in the flavour. Very light roasted. Alcahol is well hidden. As a Baltic Porter this is way too sweet for me. Totally lacs the sharp roasted malt flavour, that I seek in these beers. Jeppe (2631) - Brooklyn, Alabama, USA - JUN 9, 2004
Pours a foamy tan head on a dark brown body - the head disappears after a while. Quite odd aroma of fruit, caramel and honey (I get association to a mead...). Flavor is very sweet and fruity and the roasted malt doesn’t show until the end. Some bitter hops in the finish as well. Hides the alcohol very well. A very different porter and I’m a little confused if I really like it or not.

Bottled as Black Boss Porter: Black with ruby hints, huge tan head. Rubbery chocolate nose. Red licorice whip and chocolate taste, gets coffee notes as it warms. duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 18, 2005
Bottle. Lots of toffee and sweet caramel, sweet/sticky/syruppy mouthfeel, some brown sugar flavours, not that bad, but it could with less sweetness and less alcohol in the finish. Veer (362) - Landskrona, SWEDEN - SEP 28, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2005 Cherry black, extremely small yellowish white head.
Smells of raisins, alcohol, malt and smoke.
Is this raisin-ale?
Extremely sweet, some bitterness. Quite good.
Simple, fresh and slimy. beastiefan2k (3981) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - MAR 21, 2006
A weird baltic porter in my opinion. Pours black, but thin. The smell is really malty especially for a porter. I mean that helps explain the high ABV but not very baltic to me..It is close to a mix between Scotch ale and porter. The body is kind of thin for something this strong. No actual taste in the beer that is discernable. A strong but not good baltic porter. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - APR 6, 2006
Thanks to hopdog. Pours a brown with some red coming through. Small bubbly tan head that did not sustain. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, some wood. Flavor of cocoa, lactose and a light bitterness.
