12 oz bottles, $8.99/6 at Midway Market. Hadn’t heard of this brewery, so I had to try it. From bottle. Orange, caramel, malt. Flavor ridiculously sharply bitter. Grainy, bread. This is the kind of IPA I shy away from--just absurdly bitter with little balance.

12 oz. bottle picked up in Columbus. Pours a clear orange golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have grainy malts, some caramel, light citrus, some faded, old hop character, I don’t know how old the bottle was but this seems to be past its prime. Meh. 12oz bottle from Kroger in Grandview. Copper pour with dirty white head. Aroma of caramel, malty, orange. Tastes are grainy, earthy, bread, spices, background citrus. Finishes a grainy bitter. Not what I typically go for in the style, but everything is evenly done. jsquire (4489) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUL 14, 2014
Golden orange color with a lasting ivory colored foamy head. Earthy hop resin and some leather and old grapefruit in the nose. Flavors of aged hop resin and grapefruit rinds with bread crusts and something earthy. The label promises citrus hops but those seem to have fallen out. Long bitter hop burn on the tongue. Not bad I guess.... Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 1, 2013
Sample at Smiling Skull as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer is a clear orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes gradually. Sticky strings of lacing. The aroma is citrusy with hops and malt notes. Medium-bodied with flavors of hops, grapefruit and grainy malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap during Ohio Brew Week 2013, taster from Smiling Skull. Labeled "2012 IPA", oddly. Is this the same batch that was brewed last year, or is that just the name of the brew? Clear golden orange color. Good thin off-whote head. Impressive, thick lace. Soft, smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Biscuity, caramel, malt-forward flavor profile. It does taste like an older IPA... Might be in my head, but it doesn’t taste very fresh MrBunn (2826) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle from Mustard Seed. Pour is a slightly hazy orangish amber with a decent head of thick foam. Aromas are not my favorite for the style. Lots of caramel and an earthy/spicy hops presence with a little orange/citrus. Flavor is pretty grainy up front, kind of a silo dust edge, but once the hops start to bite things get better. Orange peel and spice help this beer move toward the finish line but it is still a little chewy and malty for my likes. Tmoney99 (14460) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 17, 2012
Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good brew.
