COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This imperial stout of 8% ABV will surprise palates seeking for character beers with a lot of flavor. Guarantied non- pasteurized, non-sterilized and non-filtered, it offers roasted coffee and cocoa aromas, revealing a harmonious bitterness throughout the savoring of the beer. The name Black {C} refers doubly to its impenetrable black body as well as the brewery where the stout originated from. Note: Draft version produced at Brasserie {C} in Liège, bottled beer brewed at Les 3 Fourquets (Lupulus) in Gouvy.

Lively carbonation. Very enjoyable. I thought it would have lots of belgian yeast notes, as it is called a 'belgian stout', but I couldn't seem to taste much spiciness.

29-08-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their August discovery box). The looks of the beer are lovely. It’s been a while since I had a stout, and I missed it. The beer is nice and dark. On the naked eye it looks dark brown, almost black. In the light a ruby red glow can be seen. Not bad. The beer doesn’t seem to cloudy, but it is definitely not clear. On top of the beer a nice soft and creamy layer of fine light brown foam is formed. Foam retention is pretty good. After a while a thick silky smooth drape is left. Nice. The smell of the beer is very nice. It isn’t extremely strong. What I smell is good. There are some nice aroma’s of malts, giving some caramel sweet touches to the beer. There is a touch of syrup to, which is lovely. Besides this I smell bittersweet chocolate and coffee. The bitter roast aromas pair extremely well with the sweeter malt aroma’s. It is not like most Stouts, it seems sweeter, but very nice. Hops aren’t to present in the smell, accept for a nice fruity twist. Lovely smell, but slightly to mild. The taste of the beer is fuller than the smell, making it a bit better. I taste the same sweet malts, syrup, caramel, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and roast. The coffee and chocolate are remarkably pure and natural. Lovely. I like those dark and robust twists in a beer. Lovely. There also is a nice twist of hops, giving just a touch of fresh fruitiness to the beer. Not to much, but they just have that slight acidity to balance out the beer. This results in a very well balanced beer. I like it a lot. The palate is lovely. Full body, smooth texture with a slight dry character and a lovely rather full carbonation. It is nice. Especially the finish of the beer is very good. It is long, full and amazing. Loads of chocolate and coffee there, making you enjoy this beer till long after its gone. All in all, a lovely Stout, and one of the better ones around.

Pour une fois que c’était juste, ils l’ont changée … oh, Mamy, what have they done to my song ??? .. ). Le tigre était un tigreau … (5/3/3/3/6)

Bottle @ home. Black colour with a small beige head. Smells roasty, dark malts, some liquorice. Tastes toffee, sweet, sugary, kinda bitter, roasty, chocolate. Unbalanced. Medium body, medium carbo. Annoyingly bitter.
