3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The final beer of the historical beer four pack that has thus far made me question if it REALLY was religious persecution, or famines, or the yearning for land, lots of land, and the starry sky above that landed our ancestors here, or did they just kick out the folk who didn’t know sh!t about brewing beer. Is the beer worthy of it’s namesake’s pub’s history? Or more reflective of the site of the pub’s current occupant, a post office. We shall see...
The pour is a nice orange-caramel colour, with no head, though you can see those bubbles a bubblin’. A really nice caramel malt nose, with some slight perfuming that always seem to go hand-in-hand with rye malts for me. And some slight bitter hops. The taste is good. Strong toasted malts, without being sweet, bittering hops balance well. Some of the bitter slightly lingers on the finish, but otherwise fairly clean. It’s not a bad beer, might be the best of the lot. Man I wish Black Creek had more impressive beers. I love the idea, but their beers just seem fall a little flat.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had to try this not least because of my family’s historical connection with this rebellion.
Rye is obvious and the beer is russet brown with little head,

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Redish tan pour. White light head. Earthy hoppy nose. Lots of grains. Very strong bitterness right at the start of the mouth. This fades pretty quick but never quite goes away. Sour finish. It’s good, not great.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Opaque&amber in colour. It does not have a head. It has a weak caramel aroma. It’s bitter and hoppy. Lightly carbonated. I’m not a big fan of this amber ale.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
471ml from LCBO: dirty orange beer with no head. Notes of malt, grass, fruit in the nose. Tastes like caramel and bread and then backed up by a dryness from the grassy hops. Wet thin mouthfeel. Not very courageous.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - 500ml. Hazy caramel body with no head at all and an average carbonation. Thin malty/hoppy aroma with flowery and butterscotch hints. Its decent hoppy taste carries grainy and woody notes. Ends with a good bitter finish. Drinkable.
