surprisingly good beer from a brewer I am admittedly not a fan of. got to sample this without dropping $10, though. Big booze and barrel character but not overly hot. light fruitiness, oak and yeast comes through as well. hopscotch (11113) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Bottle... Murky brown ale with a small, quickly dissipating, khaki head. The aroma provides generous measures of caramel and toffee flanked by notes of soil, grapes, oak and fallen plums. Full-bodied, but watery with lazy carbonation. The flavor delivers complex layers of caramel, milk chocolate and toffee with undercurrents of tart, tannic plum skins and bourbon. Finishes bittersweet, malty and vinous with long-lasting, light bitterness. DocLock (10702) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 31, 2013
Bomber from State Line. Pours turbid ruddy burnt sienna with minimal off-white head. Nose is heavy bourbon, oak, vanilla, earthy brown sugar, figgy fruit. Tastes of figgy fruit, oaky bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, and complex. Finishes with some heat and and a lot of oak, dark fruit, and bourbony notes. alexsdad06 (10434) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 12, 2014

651mL thanks to ygtbsm94. Clear amber pour with diminishing tan head. No lace. Nose is phenolic, newspaper, oxidized. Taste is sweeter, richer. Dessert cherry. Some paper and plastic. Very strange flavors. No abbey dubbel character.

Draft. Mahogony beer with a cream colored head. Nice bourbon aroma. Bourbon and dark fruit flavor with light malt and figs. Medium bodied. Bourbon and vanilla lingers with dark fruit, light malt, and figs. Nice. gyllenbock (9177) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2011
On tap at Birch & Barley, October 2011.
Dark reddish/brown with a small slightly tan head. Aroma of oak, dark fruit, bourbon and toffee. The same in the nice taste. I liked the clean and rather full mouth feel of this beer.

Shared 750 ml bottle to snifter. Looks solid; a semi-transparent deep amber with off-white lacing. Smells solid too; candied fruit and booze. Tastes like it smells with an average (albeit thin) mouthfeel. Decent.
