Bottle at DadsThursday. Pours brown with tan head. Nose and taste of bourbon, blackberry, dark fruit, oak and vanilla. Touch of bubblegum. Medium body. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 18, 2015
I’ve seen this one on shelves for years now, but never took the plunge. I finally get to try in on draft at Artistic Table in Livermore… glad I did. It pours a dark brown/red color with a light tan head. The aroma has lots of crystal malt, brown sugar, plum and raisins. Some fruity acidity in there as well. Nice. The flavor is the same. Lots of dark fruit, sweet caramel, mild toffee and buttery/woody barrel notes. There’s some noticeable alcohol heat, but it’s welcome since it cuts the heavy sweetness perfectly. Pretty tasty stuff and the bottles are pretty reasonably priced. Might pick up one sometime soon. slowrunner77 (12044) - Reno, Nevada, USA - APR 29, 2015
surprisingly good beer from a brewer I am admittedly not a fan of. got to sample this without dropping $10, though. Big booze and barrel character but not overly hot. light fruitiness, oak and yeast comes through as well.

Feb. ’16. A 0.65 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. It poured almost clear copper (mračno je, ne vidin) body with a small, short living head. Strong aroma of bourbon, alcohol, caramel, vanilla, touched with yeast. Not bad at all! Flavor was lightly sweet, with caramel, dried and dark fruits. Also lightly bitter/sour with wood and alcohol, especially towards the finish. Medium bodied with lots of carbonation on palate. Long finish, bitter, wood, bourbon, lightly sour peat and other subtle things and spices. Very nice aftertaste. Barrel aging distanced it from being too Belgian, seemed more like some barley wine. Even though I was not so impressed at first, it was definitely a pleasant and an interesting brew. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Sampled on 6/24/2011 on tap at Beer Revolution. This abbey dubbel pours a medium to dark brownish red color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, dark fruit and sweet with bourbon and wood. A medium bodied dubbel. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and herbal. Some wood. Nice carbonation. The bourbon flavors come in mostly at the finish, the beer is a touch boozy, but not that bad. I was hoping that the finish would be a little fuller, seemed a touch on the thin side. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 3, 2011
On tap at GABF. Pours with a clear bronze body with a massive and lasting tan head that leaves excellent lace. Strong barrel aromas with vanilla, cinnamon-apple crisp, bready and caramelized. Mild raisin like esters. Flavors are of bourbon and oak. Some tannin, dry apple notes, bready. Medium bubbles and body. baraciisch (3234) - California, USA - JUN 20, 2012
