Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet it’s also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another. We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

BillyNoMates solo hotel tasting. Almost clear gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Light malts, mildly sweet. Little pine, ripe orange and a whisper of hop spice. Light finish. Tastes a little aged. Okay.

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, orange, pine, hops and citrus.

Turbid/opaque amber/orange beer with a slight/medium off-white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, orange and pine; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus.

This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. The aroma is great, but the flavour does not reach these heights. A good beer overall with a great appearance and a decent palate. Nothing bad to say, but nothing amazing either.

Bottle. Pours a hazy darker golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma of oranges, lemon and grapefruit with hints of grass and piney resin. Flavor is moderately bitter, juicy citrus but a bit faint and on the background. Has some notes of cardboard in there, could be a bit old or something. Carbonation is fairly ok, little too low for my liking. Aftertaste is short, light bitter. A decent IPA, but would expect more from a WC IPA in my book.

plenty of floral and piney hops, but I also get a tiny roasted smoked chocolate scent. The body is in the medium range. Is not so clean, and I tasted some diacetyl, I think caused by a bad transport or a bad seller. The taste also has this chocolate/cocoa malt character followed by a big hoppy bitterness that lingers at the end. Unfortunately nothing special

Floral hops aroma over a citrus mandarin sweetness. A distinctly hoppy, malty body and a bitter finish. The malt adds a level of sweet to head of the bite and keeps it in check quite nicely

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, biscuit, fruity hops, some caramel, big pine resin, orange, tangerine, some floral notes. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter. Almost has a slight tartness from the fruits. Body is medium, nicely rich. Rather malty caramel piny, not as crisp fruity as I’d like, but a very enjoyable IPA anyway.

Bottle at home. Clear golden pour, thin white head. Aroma of spicy hops, some citrus, some rye, slightly chemical and a bit messy. Flavor is quite bitter, fruity, slightly sweet and a bit rough. Decent body.
