Part of the sampler from the tap room in Concord CA. Smells of dark fruits. Tastes of figs, raisins and brown sugar. Needs a little more carbonation to push it to elite status.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe for Big Wood 2015, pours a deep dark near-black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out raisins, caramels and bready notes. Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of ripe fruit, brown sugar and yeast. Taste of malts, brown sugar, vanilla, sweetened raisins and a touch of spicy yeast. Lower carbonation, full bodied, slightly cloying. Good beer.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2015 On-tap at the Roasthouse Pub in Frederick, MD. Color was very dark brown with small off-white head. Complex aromas of fruit, yeast, alcohol, brown sugar, caramel and some nuttiness. Taste was rich with a little alcohol heat going down, ending sweet and malty. What a nice adventure, will do again. On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clouydy brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of carel, fruittiness and light brandy. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, carmel, light fruittiness and light brandsy with a crisp lingering toffee finish.
