COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was intended to be black, but ended up a very pleasant dark ale. The resulting ale ended up being a really well received and good drinking beer. This dark ale has a good dark malt flavours of coffee and chocolate, and has a light body for drinkability.

BB 19APR17. Poured a very deep dark brown with a 5mm light tan head that retained very well but laced poorly. Carbonation high, lively and coarse. Aroma initially sweet followed by a nice roasted malt then dark chocolate. Taste of strong roasted malt and moderately bitter dark chocolate. Light body. Smooth with a soft, thin mouthfeel and a short but rich finish. Easy drinking.

On tap at Black Duck, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, not much else. Flavour brings out toasted malt and a touch of powdery dry cocoa. It’s alright, just really weak and watery. Amp this up and it could be good.

The Black Duck Brewery - Dark Ale pours with an aggressive head, subsiding to an above average foam height after a short time. The initial scent is relatively sweet around the edges with a bitter undertone. The first taste reveals a light, almost watery beer that contrasts with a rich flavour. Unfortunately that richness doesn't last long enough to truly satisfy. An interesting entry into Dark Ales. Frangimus

Bottle. Nice enough beer, nothing special but hit the spot just fine. nice caramel and roasty characteristics, but could be a little stronger for my liking.

330ml bottle from Warners at the Bay bottle shop. My first beer from Black Duck Brewery and it poured with a mountain of rocky beige foam that seemed to take forever to settle. Roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate in the aroma sets you up for what is to come in the flavour. Light in the mouth with good carbonation and smooth velvet mouthfeel.
