For a barrel aged maple stout it’s pretty good. But it’s no KBS. It’s honestly a dumbed down version of it. koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 2, 2015
From notes. Enjoyed this at the MBG Winter Beer Fest. The pour is a pitch black with a small, half-finger or so, of beige head and no lace. The aroma is pretty good. There is a lot of coffee and roasted malt right up front with a dark fruit and bit of vanilla on the back end with a nice transition. There is a little oak and some light bourbon, which balances well. The flavor is just as good. There is a little more of a maple on the flavor which I wasn’t expecting. I like the sweetness introduced with the little bit of vanilla and the coffee. It just created a good balance. The mouth feel is a little lighter than I was expecting, but the carbonation is velvety and coating. The aftertaste is lingeringly mapley with a hint of bourbon and a good roast lingering out the back. Not bad at all

Silver wax bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong maple, wood, vanilla, roasted malt. Medium mouth, sweet roasted malt, maple, wood, very nice. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - NOV 27, 2014
Bottle picked from Siciliano's in GR summer of 2014. Pours dark brown to black. Coffee and roast on the nose slight sweetness. Flavor follows with some dark fruits and maltiness. This is a better beer than I expected. Had a Coronado Hop Stoopid right before this one and it compared very favorably. Nice beer.

Bottle purchased at Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids. Pours pitch black with a thick tan head. Nose consists of sweet malt, fig, maple and dark fruit. Malt and smoke flavor with some dark fruit before a boozy finish. kkuipes20 (3) - dorr, Michigan, USA - FEB 3, 2013 does not count
Has the aroma of vanilla and oak, the appearance is jet black with no head. The taste is complex with strong vanilla notes up front and a toasty slightly sweet aftertaste that could come frome the maple syrup that is used in brewing this beer. Overall is a good stout but could be more carbonated but has a good overall taste. vogt5059 (30) - Michigan, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Aroma is boozy and oaky. Appearance is black with no head. Low carbonation. Taste is oaky, roasty, some alcohol heat, and finishes with heat and a little roasty smoke. Very little hop presence in either bitterness or aroma.
