On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a medium sized white head. Sweet grainy malt on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet and grainy. Malt and a touch of alcohol. Warm and malty into the finish. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 31, 2008
Deep amber beer with a thick white head. Aroma is quite malty and sweet. Clean profile with a light floral/noble hoppiness. Sweet and bready tasting with a nice clean finish. Soft caramel and toasted malt with a nice nutty maltiness. Nice brew. ben4321 (6412) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 28, 2014

Aroma: It has a nose of caramel and bready malts, with a light earthy bitterness
Appearance: Pours a clear amber-orange color, with a small off-white head and drippy lace
Flavor: It is lightly sweet, with a malt forward flavor, and a light-medium bitter finish
Palate: It is lighter bodied, with a fizzy carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Solid Amber. Good, not great flavor. This one is certainly drinkable, but it is just not all that exciting. Looks like this got me up to 83 different NY breweries, so that’s kind of cool.
Big vienna malt qualities and a smooth, bready flavor are balanced by a slight hop bitterness - somewhat of a yeasty finish - pretty good, but their pilsner is better. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - APR 24, 2007
Tap @ Black Forest: Poured a clear dark amber color with a thin off-white head. The aroma was fairly malty. Malty flavor had some acidity to it.. Semi-dry with a mildly hopped finish. There was a light tartness. Light to medium body.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Poured a very cloudy light brown which may have been because it was the end of the keg...Aroma of sweet malt and oatmeal, perhaps a touch of spices too. Flavor of sweet malt and some toasted notes. Not very flavorful and a bit over-carbonated.

Update 8/3/09: I’ll update my rating since the last sample I had wasn’t quite representative of this beer. Pours a semi-clear orange with a thick off white head, very carbonated. Aroma of generic sweet malt. Flavor of diacetyl and generic sweet malt. Pretty bland actually.
Served in a tall mug at the brewpub. Color is brown with amber tints. Medium fothy head. Can see through it if you try hard and some visible carbonation. Aroma is present - mainly nutty and sweet malt dominant. Has an earthy aspect. Much sweeter thanan marzen I have come across. Taste is also nutty and malty but a bit more watered down than the aroma implies. Leaves a sweet woodsy aftertaste. Average mouthfeel with low bitterness. beerbill (3616) - Laurel, New York, USA - APR 27, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy amber with a moderate off-white head that faded to a film at mid-glass and left a layer of foam with each sip. Weak aroma of malt and not too much else going on. The flavor is that same weak malt followed by a fiarly bitter hoppy finish. The bitterness lingers in the back of the throat briefly beyond the swallow. Very average beer. UPDATED: OCT 26, 2004 Amber color with no real head to speak of. Aroma of a light malt but nothing else. I’m not sure what award the brewery is referring to but if they had awards they give to themselves, they should decine even being nominated. I didn’t notice any of the hoppy finish of the previous two raters but more of a bland malt taste, period. I couldn’t even finish it. tgncc (3129) - Bellmore, New York, USA - MAY 10, 2009
Decent beer. I don’t know why they have this, and another Marzen they break out in the fall. The aroma is very malty, caramel, brown sugar, candy sugar. The appearance is an attractive amber (duh!), white head. The flavor follows the aroma, except maybe the flavor has a slight toasted malt thing I didn’t pick up in the aroma. The finish has a modest hop bittering. The mouthfell is straight down the middle medium. Decent beer overall. Their usual Marzen isn’t as sweet as this.
