Very muddy, very pale yellow. Aroma is heavy on the banana and comes off very sweet, like icing sugar. The palate is creamy and sweet, with lots of banana and yeast. j12601 (12622) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 24, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed opaque gold with a medium sized white head. Banana and a touch of clove over wheat. Medium bodied, nice smooth mouthfeel with plenty of wheat. Gentle wheat with a touch of bitterness and yeast into the finish. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 30, 2007
Now the flip-side… after a delicious Rye Doppelbock comes a decidedly undelicious hefe. Very pale yellow bordering on white. The aroma is dominated by sulfurous yeast notes and a flinty/minerally character as well. Some light banana and clove behind that along with a strong wheaty character and a bit more acidity than the lean body can handle. Seems a bit stale and lifeless, lacking both the rich thick body and heavy esters that I look for in this style. egajdzis (6613) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2004
Poured a cloudy yellow orange color with a small white head that left very light lacing on the glass. Citrus, clove and wheat in the aroma. Lots of banana and clove in the taste. Tasted creamy, though the mouthfeel was livelier than expected. notalush (5883) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - SEP 4, 2004
Spicy, with some banana - a bit too sweet, as others have noted - pretty standard appearance and aroma - smooth on the palate - quite drinkable, but run-of-the-mill.

Tap @ Black Forest: Poured a very hazy light yellow color with a small white head. The aroma was wheaty with yeasty banana esters. Light citrus from the wheat. the flavor had more wheaty citrus notes and some clove. Light bodied. theisti (4138) - Kansas, USA - AUG 22, 2011
.5l hefe glass, drafted at the brewpub in Farmingdale, New York. Served with a lemon. Pour is a cloudy yellow orange golden with a loose white head. Aroma is fruit stripe gum, clove, along with a bit of straw. Taste is sweet with the gum, turning quick to wheat and clove. The clove lingers a bit in the aftertaste. This became a bit unclean as it warmed, showing some off flavors. Palate is un filtered, medium bodied, decent gypsum mineral dry in the finish. Pretty standard hefe. beastiefan2k (4007) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - SEP 2, 2006
Tap @ Brewpub. Served in a weizen. Color is cloudy yellow with a medium sized frothy head. Aroma is strong - lots of earthy almost cinnamon like aromas with an underlying lemon zest. One of the more stronger smelling hefe’s I have come across. Taste is a mute heavy but not overly zingy lemon. No bitterness and seltzer-like mouthfeel. On tap at the brewpub. Pours an almost neon-yellow with a small white head. Aroma of clove, wheat, and a touch of skunk. Flavor of clove, wheat, and banana. Your typical hefe, there was nothing that stood out about this beer.

On tap sampled at NFB&WF ’08 at Martha Clara Vineyards. There were a lot of Hefe’s at the festival, and this one I think was my second favorite of the group. Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a rounded, foamy white head. Pleasant aroma of banana and bubblegum. The flavor was equally nice with again banana and bubblegum. Refreshing and enjoyable. And a thank you to Black Forest for the nice full pour as well !
