Reminisce at the day’s end over the distinctive nutty bite of British malted barley. Who won? Who lost? Who cares? Down the great liquid gold at the local, and all the petty details dissolve.

Lovely roasty, toffee and caramel flavours. Not much aroma, but a nice looking and nice tasting beer.

500ml bottle from QV Markets, Melbourne. Big pillowy yellow-tinged white head above a amber brown body. Aroma and flavours of caramel, hazelnuts and light floral hops. Well crafted smooth palate with a mild bitter finish. Not bad but I find it rather lacking in the floral hop department to be one of the better Aussie-brewed ESBs.

500ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Honey amber in colour with toffee and malt aroma. Easy drinking and pleasureable.

Caramel, toffee and hazelnut predominantly with some good bittering hops up the back. Very impressed.

Was having this with some big tasty beers and it just came up more than a little short. Might be nice drinking and watching the rugby. Putting it in the category of drink when your focused on other things. Then again sometimes a cheaper beer just as well made is more suited for that event.

Not bad if this were home brew. For a micro though it is a bit meh. Zesty aroma brown pour with white head. Strange finish is a bit cereal with some cherry and strange bitterness. Also not cheap, not cheap at all.

Bottle from Swords, courtesy of my gf. Nice malty beer. Aromas of nuts, caramel, hints of cherries. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Brown, cloudy, with a thin head.

Quite a bland beer here. Some faint toffee and fruity malts but otherwise very placid with a mineral streak that doesn’t really do much for the beer at all. Gets a bit sticky on the finish.

Bottle. Hazy amber with a large off-white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of biscuit, caramel, flowers, pears. Sweet and a bit chewy with biscuit, hazelnuts, ginger and pears before a dry and quite bitter finish.
