Tasted this at the Troon beer festival on the 7th October 2016. Cask, gravity dispense. Pours a clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Hint of boiled eggs present in the thin sulphurous aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Mixed malts give a digestive biscuit base with hints of gingerbread and golden syrup notes sweet in the mouth. Spicy peppery flavour in addition to the floral hop resins add an extra dimension to the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty, spicy and dry with notes of warming mead and ginger evident in the mouth. A decent Wheat beer - just a pity about THAT aroma, was really looking forward to smelling bananas!

Cask at The Duke William, Burslem. A clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of fruity esters, some wheat, slight caramel and subtle lemon. Taste of wheat, some grain, lemon, slight apple, subtle grape, maybe melon, a little fruit and herbal hops. Medium bodied and a slick texture. A long, slightly astrigent, herbal hop bitterness in the finish. A sweet, fruity beer but with a dry, astrigent finish which weirdly kept a sugery sweet taste in my mouth. Ok.

Cask. Aroma of yeast and malt. Pours golden with white top. Taste has soft hop fruits with some acidic citrus notes at the back. Medium bodied with some sugary languor on the palate. I drank it in memory of Victoria Wood whose death has just been announced. She deserved better but you never know. Drink for today.

[Cask, at the Great British Beer Festival, 2015] - Black Hole Brewery Milky Way, 6%, bright yellow, mildly hazy, small frothy head. Pineapple and lactose, faint medical note on the nose. Full body, oily, next to no carbonation. Strong pineapple, lemon and lactose at the start, with a medical note. Stays pretty much the same into the rather weak finish, where the lactose is what remains of the flavour. Almost no noticeable aftertaste. Initially interesting take on a wheat beer (the milky way, indeed!) that peters out halfway through.

True Anglo-Saxon wheat ale with snow white, stable head, creamy as is often the case in beers containing wheat; hazy golden colour. Aroma has some cooked vegetables and sweaty graininess, not too inviting actually, apart from light bready and grassy notes. Light in the mouth, subtle fruitiness, smooth but rather thin body, grainy, with a very mild grassy hoppiness in the finish. Lacks character.
