3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Criterion, Leicester. Blackish brown beer with a good head. The aroma is chocolatey and roasted, and the flavour is mildly roasted and bitter. Overall a good mild with plenty of flavour.

On gravity pour at W J Kavanagh’s, Dublin.
Chocolate-chestnut with no froth. Leaf, hummus, cocoa nibs and a bit of scat on the nose.
Cocoa, brown sugar and prune up front with no real hops.
Chocolate finish and a tart linger. Soft, medium, round and chewy.
Another easy mild. Fairly mid-range for the style, maybe a touch acidic. Could use more (which is to say, any) hop presence.
