Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Near black with a cream foam. Aromas are coffee and dark berries with gritty dark chocolate. Earthy with burnt toast and creamy oak barrel. Lightly floral and spicy. Flavours are rich coffee with bittersweet dark chocolate and some citrus bitterness. Dry and peppery with base cream and hints of vanilla. Very smooth on the pakate. One of the best stouts I’ve had recently. jackl (8013) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Cask @ The Harlequin, Sheffield. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny off-white head. The aroma’s licorice, red grape, ash, aromatic spices, some roasted malts and chocolate. The taste is strongly of licorice. Plenty of mineral and spicy hops. Burning forest earthiness. Hints of herbal jagermeister on the finish. Medium body. OK. A bit heavy handed. imdownthepub (14441) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 29, 2012

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2012 Cask (handpump) at the Kean’s Head, Nottingham on 13 July 2012. Dark brown. Lasting beige head. Good rich roasty stuff with stewed espresso aftertaste. Dark chocolate. Quite roasty. Plenty of hop presence too - more than the norm in a stout. Very tasty. Yeah, this is pretty decent indeed.
