Desverger (12915) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 12, 2017
[email protected] Bar, Copenhagen - very dark brown verging black with a nice off white firm head. Roasted and sweet malty, with some notes of caramel and fudge, dark dried fruit, cocoa, some lightly charred brown sugar, hoppy support, sweet malty finish.

Straight from bottle. Aroma: sweet, malty, massive caramel, toffee, vinous. Medium body. Rich malty taste. Light to medium sweet. Toast, toffee, minor roast, solid citrusy hopping. Tasty.

Dark brown with reddish hints, medium off-white head, ok retention and some lacing. Soft and not too vivid aroma, displays a mix of caramel and roasted malts with some red fruit notes in the back. Taste is medium to high sweet and medium bitter, kicking off with caramel and roasted malts, maybe toffee, then red fruit notes and a lightly bitter leafy hop finish. Overall perphaps a little less sweet than your usual scotch ale. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, slightly silky. Overall simple and quite enjoyable. Nothing remarkable.

Bottle from JK Fine Foods. Aromas hit big initially with caramel and sugary mincemeat pies. Really lovely. A light charred wood, treacle toffees and a light lemon and lime. Flavours have that sweet treacle toffee balanced beautifully with a light citrus and mild earthiness. The beer feels smooth medium bodied with a little oil. A gentle semi dry sparkle. This beer feels proper. It's smooth sweet and chewy with a little smoke in the air. It's a strong scotch ale that oozes quality.

drjoeng (1380) - SINGAPORE - MAY 16, 2017
6.8%ABV. Scotch ale. Poured out deep amber. 20SRM. Nose has treacle, burnt sugar, corn syrup, molasses, toasted pecans, fresh southern praline pecans, toasted barley. Mouthfeel is watered honey. Palate has brown wheat toast, pie crusts, bread crusts. There is an interesting slightly wheaty flavor reminiscent of the umami in rustic soy sauce preparations. Hops are woody, bitter. There is some burnt twig and burnt grass bitter. Finish is medium with strong woody bitter flavors. A bit too hoppy to be style appropriate, but otherwise a very decent example of a scotch ale.

Keg at Lochter Beer Fest. It pours clear deep brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, earth roast, coffee grounds, dried fruits, Christmas cake and cacao. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, coffee grounds, chewy malt, leather, wood, dried fruits, fruit cake, touch of alcohol, spice and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonations. Decent Scotch ale.
