Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 7%, bottle 112 of 864, thanks to cgarvieuk.
Pours an almost totally black beer, when hold against the light only a couple of ruby spots are created by light passing through. Big brown head on top, quite thick, with good retention, leaving nice lacing around the glass once collapsed and enough foam to cover the surface.
Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cut red peppers, light peat.
Taste of roasted malts, ash, light peppery notes on the finish, coffee. The peppers give a light burn on the throat afterwards and on the aftertaste, along with a light bitterness.
Medium body, good carbonation. Somewhat sticky on the palate.
Overall very good, very close to an imperial stout. I prefer the chili burn to be subtle and to build up with every sip, rather than a full frontal assault.

Bottle shared at CPK, London - many thanks to Paul for picking up this Tim Anderson collaboration. Pours brown with a large, beige head. Dark malt nose with light smokey notes. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate chili spice, some dark chocolate. Medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Light spiciness on the finish with moderate cocoa. Very pleasant stuff. Not too hot - good spice integration. Tasty. evergreen0199 (3441) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2013
Sample from bottle offered to me by Scopey. A dark brown coloured pour with virtually no head to speak of. Roasty, malty, smokey aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, slightly smokey, hint of chocolate, a little chilli coming through. Quite an interesting little number. jackl (8271) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 19, 2013
Bottle. Massive thanks to Scopey for finding this beer! Bottle #721. The pour’s deep brown with a modest tan head. The aroma’s rich chocolate cake, gritty ash and earthy aromas. Some compost. The taste is rich chocolate, mild chili, dirt, some mineral and metal. Soy sauce. Full bodies, very active carbonation. Overall, not bad. Still, not my thing. UPDATED: JAN 18, 2013 Bottle #721 of 864 picked up at Black Isle. It pours dark brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is earth, rich roasted malt, spice, smoke, vegetal, chilli pepper skin and dark chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, toast, chilli pepper in the background, earth, bitter chocolate, coffee grinds spice, hint of dark fruit and light acidity with a warming, roasty finish. Fairly restrained chilli, but well balanced. Decent.

330ml bottle no. 576. Black with a good amount of brown head. Smell is chocolate malt and earthy peat, with some chili starting to cut through. Prickly heat on the tip of the tongue before showing oily, malty, liquorice flavours and finally finishing off with chili. Doesn’t scream ’red hot’ to me but maybe the chili has faded some; anyway it has left a nice manageable heat. A nice change of pace but not something I’d want to drink regularly. gunnfryd (15097) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - OCT 25, 2012
