Pours deep ruby colour with a thin off-white head, which disappears rapidly. Aroma is faint coffee. Taste is sweet, with the coffee flavour hitting the back of the throat, and some dark fruit (raisin?). Texture is oily with a medium carbonation on the tongue. Pretty average beer to be honest, not awful but I can’t get too excited about it.

Hazy red body. Off-white head. Winey aroma with dark malts (+caramel). Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavour. Warming. Nice.

Shared with wim at his home. Brown colored beer with small white head and no carbonation visible. Malty aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is malty roasted coffee mucca.

6.8%ABV. Scotch ale. Poured out deep amber. 20SRM. Nose has treacle, burnt sugar, corn syrup, molasses, toasted pecans, fresh southern praline pecans, toasted barley. Mouthfeel is watered honey. Palate has brown wheat toast, pie crusts, bread crusts. There is an interesting slightly wheaty flavor reminiscent of the umami in rustic soy sauce preparations. Hops are woody, bitter. There is some burnt twig and burnt grass bitter. Finish is medium with strong woody bitter flavors. A bit too hoppy to be style appropriate, but otherwise a very decent example of a scotch ale.

Keg at Lochter Beer Fest. It pours clear deep brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, earth roast, coffee grounds, dried fruits, Christmas cake and cacao. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, coffee grounds, chewy malt, leather, wood, dried fruits, fruit cake, touch of alcohol, spice and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonations. Decent Scotch ale.

Keg at Banchory Beer Festival. Clear amber/brown body with no head. Aroma of caramel and toffee. Flavour of burnt caramel and brown sugar and stewed apple. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Light fizz. Sweet and delicious.

anstei (2358) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - OCT 3, 2016
Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Surprisingly roasted. Light coffee, a bit of chocolate, some liquorice on the palate. Should be a Scotch Ale here on RB, really not a bitter. Juicy, heavy and nice.

Hartoloni (239) - - JUL 9, 2016
Pours dark amber with very thin tan head. Aroma is cloves and a bit of antiseptic. Taste sickly sweet tastes like cough mixture. Not pleasant!!

Evilkniamhel (959) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 21, 2016
On keg at holyrood 9a. Malty and fruity nose, red berries. Nice and sweet and sticky on the palate.
