COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When we first introduced “Aftermath” in our tasting room, we were looking to produce a drinkable Pale Ale that wasn’t just a reproduction of everyone else’s Pale Ale. We succeeded in creating ours with a unique blend of 5 hop varieties to produce a pale with HUGE hop aroma and flavor, without the bitterness of an IPA.
Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Columbus, Mosaic
Malt: Pale, Munich

Alengrin (6011) - BELGIUM - JAN 9, 2018
Black Market's West Coast style IPA, from a can at BeerTemple in Amsterdam. Thick, towering high, very moussy and dense, egg-white, cobweb-lacing head, clear orangey 'old gold' coloured beer. Aroma of grapefruit peel, raw red onions, pine resin, old lemons, paprika, parsley, pink peppercorns, cereals, raw celery, minerals. Cleanly fruity onset, dried mango, lime and raw pineapple, sweetish and sourish, with an initially very sharp, almost painfully numbing carbonation sting to it; cereally, clean, 'dry white bready' malt backbone. Retronasally very hoppy finish as expected, very grapefruity and a bit piney, with a long, resiny, citrus peel-like bitterness remaining. Classic in concept, but in this whole passionfruit lemonade craze dominating the IPA world today, it is pleasant to revisit a classic West Coast one - and frankly, I still tend to prefer those over the new juicy NEIPA standard, if well performed, which is certainly the case here.
