Bottle shared at the 2015 edition of the chriso Pre-GBBF tasting - London. Cheers! Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. The nose holds toasted brown bread, light yeast and brown sugar. Medium sweet flavour with more bready malts, light chocolate, alcohol, dark fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet on the finish, lightly warming, with continuing notes of dark bread and cocoa. Good stuff.

2014 vintage.
At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Darkest brown, almost back, and opaque. Head lifts up to a good inch and holds; a tannish sheen of tight bubbles that laces well. Nose is thick and complex hinting at rum & raisin icecream, savoury fruit mince, Worcestershire sauce, vanillin, whisky essence and chocolate coated liquorice. A different monster on the palate. Viscous, smooth finish with plenty of higher alcohols making it quite hot. Whisky is pronounced with an earthy, topsoil edge. Caramel and soft fudge notes build along with a bitter, burnt fruit backend that lasts long into the swallow. Quite a warming ale. It drinks well but is not entirely uniform. Would love to see how a fresh one compares. Not too shabby!! (22fl.Oz, no date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
