Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a bright glowing yellow liquid with some transparency around the edges of white tint. Created a thick development of foam head which quickly simmered down. Aroma is fruity with banana and peace or apricot and smells authentic to real German hefeweizen style which is surprising since this is a brand new brewing company. Although my first pour of the pint was pleasant and having a nice taste of German yeast with all the traditional flavors, the second pour was pure dead yeast and created a pungent taste of vinegar and citrus acid. Usually with hefeweizens you would want to stir up the yeast at the bottom and pour it into your glass, but with this hef I wish I hadn’t. Must taste much better from the tap as opposed to the bottle. Cheap affordable price but the bottle formula needs some work.

Draft at the brewery. Semi hazy golden pour, with a white head. Very grainy wheat, clove spice, and notes of banana sweetness. Ok, I’m not a big fan of wheats.

on draft at far bar, way too wheaty and spicy. This one was off, but not terribly, in a weird direction

On tap at Commons Ale House in Santa Monica, nothing crazy here, good hefe though.

Draught. Aromas of banana, other sour fruit and wheat. Golden orange body with almost no head. Pretty high carbonation and a short finish. Decent flavours, but they end too abruptly. Not too bad, but for mine there are better hefeweizen out there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Plenty of banana esters and cloves on both the nose and taste. A little bubblegum as well. Not as much citrus as others I have had. Ok.

On tap at Stone NTC. Pours a hazy golden color, with banana/clove/wheat nose. Flavor is banana and clove with some spices on the back end. Watery and light. Not unique.

Tap at Black Market. Full haze glowing straw. Weak foam. nose is mild peach, white grape. Taste is green apple jolly rancher, vanilla, slight vinegar twang. Atypical for style.

Bottle from Total Wine Huntington Beach. No clue on how long it’s been sitting on those shelves, but based on the other bottles I bought probably mid-2012. Anyhoo, this pours a beautiful hazy golden amber. Not as big of a head as I like, but it’s foamy and off-white. Nose is sweet and wheaty, but a bit subdued. Not the in-your-face bubblegum and banana that some hefes are. Some mineral, white grape, pear, and subtle clove spicing. Taste is the same, with the sweet fruity wheat transitioning into canned pear and lightly spicy clove. Mineral throughout. Again, not much in the way of banana or bubblegum. Big thick body with ample smooth carbonation. Solid all around, but I like a little more pungency in my hefes.

Pours a foggy light brown with big frothy head. Nice lacing. Aromas of clove, spice, banana and bread. Also a little hot phenols in there. Taste is big banana, a little spice, and bread dough. Medium mouthfeel; slightly chewy.
